yeah i too agree with many of the comments here , ford is really bad in designing ..looks are really realy ugly..few ex .taurus x or 500, fusion , escape ..explorer…Ford - if u design something ..keep in mind that the design should make people look back at u r car …80 % of ford models are less than ordinary designs …edge is an exception…all others ..total junk…designs ..by the way who designs cars for you ford ..come on take cues from other manufacturers too.. see lexus ..hondaa… mercedes…learn from others no harm in it …bcz u are gonna get benefitted …design what people want …dont do it just bcz the designesr likes it …expecting some good designs and economical cars in future

Bad design. Love the 360 degree tv but it just doesnt look flashy. Nice hybrid tech too, but the design is just horrible and old style. Throw out the design, keep the technology (and the TV) and you have a awesome car. (what company made that TV?) (:

I!m in the market for a new truck, preferably a compact (ranger) size. What i want is four doors with a 6 ft box and a small (approx 3 ltr) diesel engine. The explorer sport is not an option nor is the new 150 diesel due in 09, if in fact it does come out. I had a ranger diesel many years ago and if it had 4 doors and and a larger engine I!d probably still have it. When can I expect something like this to happen.

I am Ford Truck loyal. Love ‘em.
Buick’s cars were always designed with my granparents in mind. Ford’s car line has been right behind.
They will not produce anything as cool looking as the Airstream. The closest you get to cool is a Mustang. Instead they will put out a clone, squared-off misfit like the Flex. It is not attractive and does not have any appeal.
This may come off as a rant on them but I just wish they’d take their cars appearance and jazz it up another notch or two on the sporty side.
I hope they read this and realize I want them to succeed despite what it may sound like. If you do, please respond to my e-mail so I know.

C’mon Ford, give us more rides people like like the Edge.

On a side note… The toughest truck in the business needs a new front grill. The SuperDuty’s grill is SuperUgly. WAY TO LARGE and way to square. I know you want it to look tough but it detracts. I would never buy that truck because of the grill.

yea front grill fits the 450 more but on the 250 it look stupid they shouldve gave it the f-150’s front grill and ys ford makes some mean truck i got an 06 ford 250 super duty sitting in my garage right now ..SCrew chevy them things stink

I like it. Despite the fact that it’s a Ford. It has good proportions, cool lines, especially around the windows. Lose the plasti fender flares, and the F.O.R.D. emblems, and it’s a winner.

FORD AIRSTREAM CONCEPT now this vehicle really looks to be pratical. Cant you see tyring to get into it when it is parked in a Walmart parking lot or how about your own two car garage. Your designer really need to look at the Honda or Hyundai concept vehicles at least they are functional. I can’t see wasting engineering design time to make the whole side panel open out from the side of the vehicle and the bottom to become a floor board when you can’t use the vehicle in normal parking situations. Just use some common sense when you design a vehicle.

 Wow, I am glad that most concept car remain just that, a concept. This this is just plain ugly. Yes, it does remind of a 1960s movie, but so does lousy acting and poor special effects. This vehicle belongs on the set of the Classic Star Trek, depicting an alien world, one far from Earth, which is obviously where this idea was hatched. I’m surprised to see that there are those who actually beleive this vehicle will be in showrooms.

I am excited about all concepts especially this one. It looks like one of those vehicles you could see in a futuristic movie. The name kind of reminds me of the Airstream live in trailers. I am interested in finding out if a Heads Up Display of the dash is installed and if the screen in the center of the dash is the rear camera replacing the rearview mirror or is it the navigation system. What about the side mirriors, are they also cameras hidden in that pop-out on the fender looking back or is that something else? What is the height of the large lower right side entrance when it is open to the ground? Finally where are the taillights, brakelights, and backup lights? Are they around the rear window and light up when turned on or not added yet. I’m sure when it goes into production it will meet the safety standards of the future. I look forward to seeing it up close.

 it just occurred to me that autos really wont need spare tires in the future.an auto without the spare and jack and extra weight of metal to house them would deliver better fuel economy and power.dumb idea? first all of tire quality of tires is constantly improving, second the tow trucks could carry the spares.instead of the time wasted to go through your trunk,the tow truck operater would either rent you a spare ,or donut.think about millions of vehicles weighing 40 pounds less.of course the industry would have to implement the towing service with tire spares.the gas saving of millions of vechiles should defray the cost of such implementation.with the extra space,ford could possibly use that space for other design considerations.better accelleration and fuel economy plus the cars would sell for 50 bucks less. win win, situation.p.s. the europeon focus and the twin turbo lincoln appear to be winners for the u.s. future.best of fortune to ford.

I would even put a deposit on the first one built as I enjoy the design and powertrarin tremendously. Ford Airstream is the type of vehicle that will drive sales across America due to its unique design and fuel cell power, which will increase market share for Ford Motor Company. Let’s beat the Japenese and the Germans with new designs which the Babyboomer Generation can afford. The 2002 thru 2005 Ford Thunderbird was fantastic, however Ford miscalculated the price for the marketplace and that is the only reason sales were down across the board nationwide. Let’s not make the same mistake twice. Bill Ford is no longer at the helm (thank God); you would think after losing the first Billion Dollars he would have stepped down. Unfortunately he waited 6 years and 10’s of Billions of Dollars later to step down. Water under the bridge now, and we have a good leader at the helm currently. So, Mr. Mullaly let’s build the Ford Airstream and other unique designs to drive sales which will turn around Ford Motor Company and drive sales to increase the Market Share lost during the doldrum years of building cars that were boring and lookrd like every other auto makers vehicles.  Wow, I really don’t think so guys, despite what the nuevo “hippies” will say. Kind of flashy but doesn’t really look good for anything.
I think you made a really good go at a neo-station-wagon here but missed a little too much utility and added a little to much style. Too much froth, not enough coffee. Although I would honestly have to use one for a trip to the woods and cruising around town to be sure. It looks unorthodox so maybe it could surprise me. I’ll give you that.
How about the size of that windshield? Hey guys we can’t run dark tinted glass out here for “safety” reasons and that windshield is going to put enough heat in that vehicle to boil water. Geez, I bet you burn half your hydrogen on air conditioning. Add the safety belts and child seat harnesses, strip the nice window tinting and ugly it up for all the required safety stuff (will they allow seating at the exterior walls and rear hatch?) and you have to change a lot… we all know that by the time you get all the mandatory “safety” crap in there -including exterior bumper size, height and all that junk- 2/3rds of the coolness is gone.
Then ditch the carpet, the blinding white dash, orange highlights, the mood lighting and the other “concept” features that will never see the showroom floor (is that an airspeed indicator sticking out there; and a fold-out patio?), and you’ve got a cross between a VW minibus and a pt cruiser.
Did you even try to talk to a soccer mom before building this? Because it isn’t cool enough for the street rod crowd, not elegant enough for the symphony and theater crowd, not near aggressive enough for us off-roaders, too spendy for the college crowd (I’m guessing), not quite sporty enough for the weekend hiker/tree hugger crowd (i.e., Subaru Outback) and I think that leaves us with soccer practice and groceries right? Alright maybe some DINK (Dual Income, No Kids) beach combers would get into it as is, but your not going to get far with that. Or maybe you will - your call.
My two cents? I happen to like the looks of the exterior, not the interior and love the rotating chairs, under-seat compartments and general idea, but I think you went the wrong way with it. Make it useful, then add fuel cell drive, then pretty it up, in that order. [Yes I am 100% "form follows function", I am a civil engineer, not an architect.]

First impression of the Airstream was “that’s no way a Ford vehicle”. I have always liked the looks of most Ford vehicles, except the Taurus manufactured between 1996 and 1999, to which I refer as the “bug-eyed” look. I was very glad the 2000 model went back to the classic Taurus style.

The Airstream with the metallic exterior makes it look like a UFO on wheels. I am not impressed with the interior, especially with the seats and the carpet on the floor? Being the father of two young children, I don’t see any seats in the back unless they are lined along the sides of the vehicle? I don’t see any provision for safety belts or worse yet, no obvious place for car seats. If Ford is attempting to market this kind of vehicle to replace minivans, more would need to be done to accommodate the needs of parents for their children.

The windows on the Airstream do not look like they can be lowered into the curved body. I don’t see any side-view mirrors. The rear liftgate doesn’t look like a door at all with it being wider on top and more slender towards the bottom.

Ford (and other companies) should develop and perfect the technology first before thinking about the outside package. If the technology is sound and functional, in my opinion, people would be more willing to buy it because of how it works, not how it looks.

 This is so funny cause I grew up camping with Airstreams and so did my parents so when I saw the picture I just fell back laughing, I think its great!! I would have never imagined there ever being and “Airstream” car. I love it! Also looks like an awesome party car too.

 I always read about these concept cars, but why is it i’ve never seen one made or on the road. If this car was manufactured I would buy it in a heartbeat. Not only because of it’s original futuristic design and scheme but because of the energy source.

I am a huge fan of Ford! I think that this car has some very…unusual styling cues. The style of this car is unprecedented in the automobile industry. I do not particularly like the center console, perhaps if it were an entertainment system? The outside needs more glass and less sheet metal. Other than that, keep it up Ford we are gonna be back on track soon!

 Maybe you will (Hopefully!) I would have paid dearly for the VW microbus last year - and they didn’t make it after getting us all excited. Please make it - it’s time for a cool van again!

PLEASE SPEND YOUR DEVELOPMENT MONEY BUILDING INTERCEPTOR AND THE MKR. Get FORD back in the car business. My co-worker in the next cube can’t say enough good about his 1987 Taurus… Ford needs another hit like that, AND IT MUST BE A RWD MODEL TO REPLACE THE STONE AGE CROWN VIC AND COMPETE WITH THE 300C/CHARGER (not to mention offer something to FORD lovers who might be attracted to Lexus, Infinity, BMW or even Mercedes brands… note all RWD). Keep on promoting the Fusion too, its a great car. Please make sure interior materials, fit and finish are competative with the Japanese and European brands.

I think the upcoming FLEX (nee Fairlane) will cover the needs of the people who might consider this Airstream thing… at least for the next 5 years.

 If Iconic is a new synonym for truly ugly, then the Ford Airstream Concept fits the bill. I just wanted to see if the 2008 Ford Escape is now both hybrid and flex fuel capable as was touted in last year’s auto show, but evidently you don’t have all the kinks worked out yet. I guess I’ll be waiting another year ( or for another manufacturer ) to come out with a vehicle capable of both.

 I would love to see this van on the market. I’d buy it in a second. However, I don’t believe the technology is anywhere close to plausible yet. How about an electric car or hybrid plug in like the Chevy Vault? I’d love to see a van with low continual maintenance cost, but I want to see SOMETHING in the next two to three years in mass production!

This is the ugliest car I have ever seen. Personally I believe the reason why electric/hybrid/hydrogen vehicles have never made it in the market place is because of the looks not because you have to plug it in or any other excuse. Cool Idea it would be great if it was affordable. I think it would boost morale if the usa auto makers were building something that blows the imports out of the water. I own an 04 ranger and a 61 t-bird and would like to stay with the Ford Family and I would Like my next vehicle to be a hybrid or electric. This looks like a step in the right direction although maybe they should paint it any color the customer wants as long as it’s black.

I absolutely LOVE this car!!! It’s futuristic, yet fun at the same time!! I would MOST DEFINITELY buy this car!!! I love both the exterior and interior of the car. It’s designed in a very unique fahsion.

This car, van… THING is hiddious! It’s like your trying to make a shuttle craft from the early shows of Star Trek. I’m all for saving the environment with alternate sorces of fuel, but every single car that is made in such a way looks like someone was drunk making the design of the body! Quit wasting money and make it right.

I am interested in a hybrid vehicle but the Airstream leaves much to be desired. Lots of people complain about all the vehicles on the road and the big cars. They want to encourage people to buy hybrids. I have a sugestion. Make something practical for families. I have 4 children,I can tell you they waste the space in the airstream. I would seriously consider geting it for my family if they would restructure and use the space inside better. For example the way the seats are facing you can’t put carseats in because they have to be facing forward or they are not safe. Come on Ford you are seriously limiting your customers with this new direction.

Make this car for those of us who have a family and hate the look and feel of mini vans. I have only owned cars made by German and Japanese companies. I have never wanted to buy and American car because they are so behind the times in style and mpg. This is a car that is cutting edge in style and gets good gas mileage. If you make this it will put you back on the map as a leader in the industry and not just a company that makes cars that follow what has been successful for others. You can loose some of the gimmicks that make it too expensive for the average person to buy. Make this work for around 25 – 30,000 and you may have a winner at getting customers that have never bought Ford in their lives.

Mike from RI has it right. Concepts need to be built. Be a leader, and give us a vehicle that is efficent and functional. A bold look did not hurt anyone. Side note not too pleased that you closed your highest quality production plant for sooo many years. Saint Paul was a great operation.

Hated the Element, don’t like the HHR, can’t stand the Scion, the “new” T-Bird was an affront to a great car. At least with the new Mustang Ford did create a design to honor an icon. This? The first word that came to mind was Edsel. Great drive train concept, great platform, but who the heck is finding the people who design the product? We bought our first Ford ever last year, Focus ZX5, wanted to by a Wagon version this year because we like it so much. Guess what? All gone, no more, we are now forced to find another brand because Ford doesn’t make ‘em anymore. But, money to spend for this. Things that make you go “Hmmmmm”.

This thing looks like a concept a Japanese auto maker would make. There’s nothing American about it. We need to go back to our roots and make cars that look American.

This is the best car we heve ever seen. The interior is a little too bright, before we buy we would need to be able to choose our own colour scheme. The idea of hydrogen refuelling stations at Ford dealerships is a great idea to get the hydrogen fuel rolling!

This is a good start in forward thinking for Ford. I have sold Fords in the past and am a baby boomer. The hardest thing to overcome was the “vanilla” excitement level of Ford products. Even for me there was nothing out there to really want to buy. I am not a Mustang kind of guy but it is a great car. What ever happen to the SHO versions of the production sedans like the Taurus. How about a SHO Fusion AWDor SHO 500? Other than that the Airstreem concept needs refining on the exterior design to really catch hold. Ford remember the Pontiac Axtec? Do you want to fall into those rutted wheel tracks? I hope not.

Put some Solar Cells on the roof to offload some of the accessories drain.

Add some hydrogen refueling stations in Ford Dealerships around the country to be sure customers have a place to refuel their hydrogen tanks.

Sale Home Fast recharging kits(designs already exist) to customers to reduce charging times.

But most of all, give the public the opportunity to really buy one.
The public wll buy it, if its available.
