Hi, I am thinking to buy a Mountaineer but just realised that the 2008 is a few years old in design (2003 I believe - please correct me if I am wrong). Does anyone know when there will be a new model? would really not like to buy the 2008 now if its already known (to some) that the a new model will be introduced lets say in 2010….

I was going to purchase another Mountaineer but I was’nt happy with the color choices. I had hoped you were going to have the same color choices as the Mariner. I guess I won’t be buying another one. I have a 1998 Mountaineer and I just love it.

This is my 2nd Mountaineer… I hope the Mountaineer will be redesigned. The headrests are ugly.. put the steering column back where it was - it takes up too much space were it it now - improve mpg - improve front end - make it into a crossover — or I’ll be shopping around for something else when my lease is up.. Thanks!

Get rid of that the awful gear shift in the middle of the cabin. Save some room and make it more functional by putting it back on the steering column.

I agree. Also the drinkholder both on the passenger side obstruct the button view. The window controls are backwards as are the locks. None of the controls are easily seen. We have had three mountaineers and the 1999 was definitely the best and have been going down hill eversince…

I agree get rid of the sifting lever and put back on the steering colum. That way make more room for storage

 2007 Mountaineer Premier boasts of having 18 inch tires and a full size spare. Beware the spare is a full size 17 inch of another brand with a different tread design.Dealership refuses to replace with same size and same brand.

Its ok but it looks the same. Make Mercury a Crossover to. Make one like the Meta One concept, forget about those Engine specialties.

Ditto, I want one but I can’t seem to come to terms with the face. When they re-engineered it for ‘06 I was hoping for a restyle but it wasn’t and I couldn’t justify the premium over the Explo.

I totally agree with Dan’s statement. The front end is obnoxious. I was a Mountaineer owner but I won’t buy another one until the front end is redesigned.

UPDATE THE OBNOXIOUS FRONT END TO MATCH THE ELEGANT INTERIOR…
