“Plans to replace the minivan are already underway,” says Peter Horbury, executive director, Design, The Americas for Ford Motor Company, “this is just another type of crossover.” The Ford Airstream Concept is more than just another crossover, and as more people make their way to the floor of the Detroit Auto Show this week, more people will be talking about it. Horbury says that the red interior, and the 360-degree “lava lamp” entertainment screen evoke “camping trips where you’d sit around the fire.” The retrofuturistic exterior is nostalgic to those who remember Airstreams from their childhood roadtrips. Read: Baby Boomers. Designed to “celebrate the iconic brands that put America on the road,” the retrofuturistic Ford Airstream Concept is as high concept as it gets. Horbury is pleased with the response so far: “This show has been tremendous for us. All eyes are on Ford, and we’ve given them something to see.”

As a stockholder in this company I hope you execs get the message and realize that these are the cars that will bring more sales not the boring, and incredibly terrible cars that you are currently selling. i would not buy any of your current vehicles in the Sedan, SUV, or Mini Van category. However this airstream right here is something amazing. Amazing enough to buy if it were on the market. Get with the program and get these cars on the market. Our stock is already bad enough and I would like to see it go up. GET THE CARS ON THE MARKET!!!!

Your people in R and D are Great (as usual),the problem is, will Ford still be in buisness to bring this concept with Hydrogen technology to market ?Ford and their UAW partners got to be asking themselves "Who Moved MY Cheese?" Good luck "HEM" aka FORD.

Ford better get its' act together soon and start building cars that not only make a difference to drivers but to the enviornment....Seems real easy to me... I drive a 2006 Freestyle and love it... Just wish I had not opted for the all-wheel drive due to the fuel economy the front-wheel drive gets.... Also would like it if it was available in a hybrid...

This car is amazing!

Imagine the simplicity of it, but still so beautiful. I hope it will get into production, if not I'll just go for the new Ford Interceptor (also detroit) :P

Once again, a unique concept from FoMoCo which will disappear into thin air. Enough of the show cars and give the people some real cars to buy.

I think the new vehicles like this one are vehicle that are going to make the automotive industry exiting again. Do not get me wrong cars have been changing over the years, becoming safer and more fuel wise and better for the atmosphere. But all of the concept cars that I have seen seem to have even better fuel mileage and even better safety features.

I guess then my question is why are these cars not released yet and why are there so many concept cars that were created and showcased in the past that still are not released to the public?

The future is now and the I believe the public is ready to start driving safer and more fuel economic cars. Global warming is here now and is starting to rapidly affect the world and even claims lives.

This is due to the amount of carbon in the air which is created by high emission vehicles. If the car manufactures were to release these cars that produce less emissions now global warming can be controlled.

The car manufacturers have the power to make a change in the way we all live our lives, why are they not doing more when they can.

Just curious,

Jon Turcotte

This is a must have vehicle, in my opinion. Ford could single handedly revolutionize the minvan market, and concidering i absolutely detest minivans, i think that's saying something. I love the retro VW Bug-esque interior and the lava lamp is a nice touch. Even at 21 years of age, there isn't a person i know that wouldn't want to catch a lift with me in that thing, nevermind go on a road trip. Phenominal vehicle. Perhaps the youth of today could start appreiciating things before their time and the Airstream would be a great item to start with.

Exciting automobiles. Make people even more excitied by providing a North American delivery program as is done for Volvo and Jag for European ddelivery. North America has some exciting places to visit in a Ford that is picked up at the factory with a tour ,over night stays and airfare and special pricing. Make America and Canada a place to be and feel special in A Ford vehicle.
