This morning at NAIAS William Clay (Bill) Ford Jr, Executive Chairman of the Board of Ford Motor Company, introduced Ford Brand’s line-up of concept cars, technology and themes for “the blue oval” in 2007 and the stategic direction for it’s key vehicles, moving forward.

Ford’s three concept cars revealed this morning included the Lincoln MKR, Ford Interceptor, and the Stanley Kubrick’s 2001: A Space Odyssey inspired Ford Airstream Concept.

Key themes for Ford’s introduction to NIAIS for the launch of Sync a new technology created from a partnership with Ford and Microsoft. None other than Bill Gates made appearance on via video link up from Las Vegas at CES and spoke about Sync’s intention to “enhance the pleasure and safety of driving”.

Other themes, coupled with new model reveals included a commitment to small cars, with the introduction of the 2008 Ford Focus and the ongoing dominance of Ford in the truck vertical with the F-Series Superduty.

Tonight we learn about what Ford’s Premier Automotive Group: Volvo, Jaguar, Land Rover and, Aston Martin have in store for 2007.

Happy first one hundred years of NAIAS.

Wow!I just love your Ford Concept. I can't wait till it comes out
ROBERT CRONK says (June 21, 2007 at 2:31 pm):
WHY IS FORD KILLING THE RANGER? SOME OF US GUYS LIKE A SMALL TRUCK ,MINE GETS 18 MPG CITY 4.0L
Caleb M says (May 10, 2007 at 12:05 am):
I agree with Chris. Bring back the cougar. I don't see why Ford shouldn't have two different muscles in their line-up. They wouldn't even have to keep it Mercury, they could just make it the Ford Cougar like they did in Europe. I don't know, I miss the cat...
Chris Haywood says (April 9, 2007 at 11:01 am):
Okay Ford, here's what you need to do. Replace the aging and obsolete Crown Victoria with the Interceptor. Keep the bold styling, V-8 power, and REAR-WHEEL-DRIVE. Ditch the "squircles", and make the interior a more user friendly 5-passenger design. This will give the Chrysler 300 some much needed competition. Dump the Five-Hund...er...Taurus and the Freesty...er...Taurus-X and replace both with the Australian Ford Falcon and Territory SUV - www.ford.com.au - . Both are REAR-WHEEL-DRIVE and powered by Inline-6 and V-8 engines ranging from 255hp to 390hp. And both are available with 6-speed manual or 6-speed auto transmissions. Bring back the T-Bird as a 5-passenger, personal luxury sport coupe with V-8 power. It could be based on the excellent RWD Australian BF Mk II Falcon platform. Give the Mustang a proper upper and lower A-arm front suspension and a multi-link independent rear suspension and more powerful engines to help it compete against the Challenger and Camaro. Give the Lincoln Navigator a bigger, more powerful engine. I'm thinking at least 6.0 liters and 400+ horsepower to help it compete with the Cadillac Escalade's 403hp 6.0L V-8. Build the MKR and make a proper V-8 engine an option for Lincoln purists. Get rid of the MKX and MKZ and replace then with versions of the Ford Territory and Falcon. There's nothing like REAR-WHEEL-DRIVE and V-8 power to perk up sales in the premium luxury segment. Mercury needs help too. Bring back the Cougar based on the Mustang platform. Bring back the Comet based on the Falcon. Dump the Grand Marquis and replace it with the Marauder, based upon the Ford Interceptor design. Do these things and Ford might actually start selling cars again. Thank you.

James says (March 13, 2007 at 3:39 am):
Smart move to go with microsoft. Ford and Microsoft my two favorite companies out there.Keep up the good work and kill the RAM 3500 with the new 2008 Super Duty. FORD ALL THE WAY!
John says (March 13, 2007 at 3:37 am):
Fix fuel economy and design and you'll beat out everyone. I am an Avid fan of Ford and love ford and the passion and history it has. Love the '39 Ford Coupe, T'bird, Navigator, F-150(Got mine, best truck hands down), Expedition is getting better ,but if we're going to take bold moves we need bold designs and fuel efficiency to match. Oh yeah the New Lincoln Navigator is way better than the escalade, again work on the fuel economy and you'll beat out escalade in no time.
Dawn Aulet says (February 9, 2007 at 6:14 pm):
Please, please, please...put the Airstream into production. That is an awesome car. I would be in line to buy one...
Guy says (January 28, 2007 at 10:33 am):
I want an Interceptor just like the concept car. DO NOT CHANGE A THING!
Adantillo says (January 26, 2007 at 3:36 pm):
I've been a Ford Customer--tried and true for over 45 years. Drove Thunderbird and Mustangs. Now I own the Fusion which is a great car. But I still miss my midsize TBird. Always felt I was surrounded by luxury and safety. What happened to my beloved TBirds??? Please do something in the future.
Rabbi Mike Rothbaum says (January 22, 2007 at 1:06 am):
The Interceptor is the car you should have built years ago.

And while you're at it, please stop killing storied nameplates -- like Thunderbird, Continental, Taurus, Cougar, etc etc . . .
gene says (January 21, 2007 at 8:21 am):
what i've seen is nice, but i think that the fabled 49'er should have been brought to market. the interceptor looks to be just a sleeker 300m. the 49'er really had style, could have had "muscle", and would have been way ahead of the competition- not just"me too" reaction. i would also like to see more european ford influence too. maybe australian ford?- oh, gm is already doing that?- hey if it works---- "me too"!!!
Harold J says (January 16, 2007 at 7:09 pm):
This car will kill the Towncar ushering in the new Continental. Ford do not kill the name. Ok!
joshua roudebush says (January 15, 2007 at 12:34 pm):
I AGREE WITH Brad Rhodes
DJHogie says (January 13, 2007 at 11:01 pm):
I'm in love with the Mercury Milan. I would like to see a retro Mercury Cougar of 1967. I would alsoo like to see a midsize Thunderbird coupe again. Ford is going in the right direction.
Brian says (January 13, 2007 at 11:41 am):

Hurry up and slap a "sport" package on the 500 and you will see your sales go up 10 fold! Come on people! Why haven't you done it before now? Spoiler, 1 1/" bottom moulding and what else... who cares! I have put over 5 wings on, and it totaly changes everyones thoughts in the under 40 crowd. Its to damn hard to get these owners to do anything out of the norm like throw some wings on before there sold! Have you seen any of my winged and one even with NASCAR tires on it on the road?! Yea they totaly look like a different New Sports Sedan! Come on FORD Just A Wing!!! This is one of the best cars on the road for the money and it just stops 250.00 short of fitting a majority of peoples wish list when looking for a New Automobile.
