Ford will miss the mark forever. They screwed up on marketing the Xr4Ti by giving it a dumb name (Mekur), they insist thst the US market wants flying, sneering bricks (Lincoln), giant SUV’s or boring mobiles (Focus, Fusion and Taurus).

Ford would kick the collective booties of Honda, Nissan, Toyota/Scion and VW if they built this vehilce in North America.

I wish that Bill Ford would spend about a year in Europe and Australia and drive the Fords there and then be forced to drive what we call Fords in the US. hen (if he had any brains or ambition) would fire Mullaly and the small minds in Dearborn and bring designers and executive over from Germany and Australia.

Also, the Mondeo wagon would be a Subaru/VW/Audi/Mercedes-Benz killer but I guess that it doesn’t look anything like a 5,000 pound crossover…

you know, having looked at Chrysler and GM’s website, Ford definitely has better styling. Those other 2 makes some ugly ass cars, except some Chevys are stylish. At the risk of redundancy, bring cool European cars to the US, it seems like your US designers or people that choose what designs to sell here, underestimate the US consumer’s taste. Go Ford!

This car is very very sexy. I would love to own this car and that color is pretty awesome too. I don’t know, it just seems european styling is better, I think Americans are moving more towards this notion. We now like real cheese like Brie instead of processed American cheese. Same thing with clothes. Ford, bring you cool European cars to your homeland!

Well, yet another post wondering why ford cant produce a beautiful car like that for America? I mean c’mon, Ford is an AMERICAN made car, and if they were to bring something like to the US market, they would make a killing! im a member on a focus forum, i drive a 2009 foucs and love it, but why ford? Sure they did great with the 09 NA focus. but 9/1- people would rather have this…… Even in that color!

Ford vehicles are what I have been driving for twenty years. My latest cars are a 04 SVT Focus and 03 Mach 1. European Ford vehicles are more appealing than what North American Ford is offering. It frustrates me enough to buy a foreign car in three years. I wouldn’t think of it, if they brought back SVT Focus or from Europe the Focus RS/ST.

They need to make there hybrid vehicles more attractive than a vanilla wafer. They offer ugly colors and not very eye apealing. i.e. The Hybrid Escape - great engineering but ugly colors and lack premium wheels.

As an European person I can tell you: Ford is doing fine in Europe, although because of the economic crisis affecting the total car sales, it affects Ford in Europe as well.
I am curious about the American consumer: why do American cars have such a poor quality and poor plastic materials inside and why do consumers accept that?
As an European person I hope that the design of Ford vehicles will not deteriorate when American engineers/ marketing execs help the engineers in Cologne to design European Ford vehicles.
It is already a problem in Europe: German and Swiss people demand higher quality cars and materials than English people. I am in favour of the former party and put some extra quality in a car and I am prepared to pay for that.

After following the big 3 auto execs performance in the Senate and House and hearing mostly BS comments, would it not have been nice if Ford et al had disclosed that some of these European fuel efficient cars would be available in the USA? I am buying Ford stock and praying!

This looks like yet another great car that we will not see in the states. For some reason Ford as well as GM and Chrysler have this idea that we all want to buy huge trucks and SUVs. My daily driver is a Contour SVT and I love it. It is getting some miles on it and I would gladly trade ot for that Focus, but that won’t happen because Ford keeps trying to sell us bland styled cars with mediocre performance.

For the life of me can not understand why Ford NA can not take European designs and use them here in the states. How incredibly difficult is that? I’m not asking you to ship Euro. cars here, It’s been stated by Ford the costs would exceed profits etc. etc.. But use European designs they share cues from other luxury brands. Stop following statistics and start following the consumer’s wants, not just needs. I swear they believe NA buyers are dumb that’s far from the truth. the 50’s generation is starting to turn over to the Camry’s while first time buyers are going for that VW or Civic because they notice these companies put higher quality materials, smoother better designed vehicles for the same price.

It’s really all about opinion and that is mine, thinking 1 person doesn’t matter is wrong because I’m sure many like me feel the same way, and is evident by Ford’s sales. They had that web-special where they would document fords efforts in turning the company around. I followed closely and read so many comments and opinions. All desired better from ford, more specifically from their European cars. When I think of Ford, 3 things come to mind. Trucks, Volvo, Mazda. Nothing else from this brand interests me. I’ll be car shopping mid 2009. I’ll most likely buy a Mazda, you can make money from me that way I suppose ~

I agree completely! I went to the UK on vacation and was jealous of the Ford Focus and even Fiesta designs that they get. I love the sleek two door hatchback and as a first time buyer I got a VW Rabbit, the NA Focus versions just aren’t sharp and don’t seem to be aimed at young buyers.

The car in these pics is the new Ford Focus RS which will be on sale in Europe from mid 2009. The car has the same 2.5L 5 Cylinder 20V Turbo engine from the current European Ford Focus ST, but in RS form it will be modified to produce 300PS/296BHP and over 320FT/LB torque. Over 1000 orders have been placed in the UK alone with over 40% of those requesting the Green color as shown in these photos. The car looks the part (Maybe in Sea Grey metallic) and I will be part exchanging my 2007 UK Focus ST for an RS when it is released next year.
The car can be viewed on the Ford UK website and is regularly updated.
Hopefully Ford US will follow suit as this is an affordable performance car and would sell well on the NOrth American market.

Last spring I drove a Ford Focus through Ireland. It was a new car and drove wonderfully. If this car is made available in the States I will buy one. Please don’t modify it to death, it is great as it is.

Please bring the RS/ST to the US and rebuild Ford’s reputation as great car manufacturer and to give that awesome car a chance to make history like the mustang. Make it in a four door version too because I love my 4-door SVT focus.. it only lacks a turbo!

Yes it looks nice but I am looking for a Ford version of the WRX STI. Is it AWD, turbo, with high end performance brakes, ext? Or is it just another look alike rally car. I was looking at getting a SVT but it was less then impressive. I do not and will not drive a FWD car. It takes all the fun out of driving. I guess I will have to live with my mustang GT till some one besides Subaru makes a real “rally car” for the street here in the USA.

I am a 36 year old male. In the last 12 years, I have owned two Nissan Maximas. Before that I owned a Dodge Shadow, two Acuras, and my first car, an Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme. I have never owned a Ford.

My current Maxima is nine years old and I am ready for a new car. Unfortunately, there isn’t a single American-maker car that I would even consider right now. Every car I have been looking at is Japanese or German.

But then I saw that Ford is bringing over its fantastic Euro models. Why cars of that caliber are not currently sold in the US is absolutely behind comprehension. But they are fantastic and I have decided to wait to buy my new car until you get them on our soil. I would buy a Mondeo, a Focus, or Fiesta, without question. They are all absolutely fantastic, beautifully designed cars.

In fact, I am so thrilled that Ford US is waking up to their plight that I have been buying Ford stock for the last few months and will continue to add to my position over the next year.

Ford, you have an incredible opportunity here. DO NOT fail by watering down the Euro models for what you deem the American consumer to want. I have heard this argument time and again, and the fact that the Japanese have trounced you in sales of small and mid-sized cars, with sporty handling characteristics, could not provide more proof that whatever marketing mental giants you have been listening to have been smoking a little too much of the wacky grass.

Ford, get this one right and you have won over an American consumer, perhaps for life. Get it wrong and I will unfortunately have to buy from your competitors. Of course, if you get it wrong it will likely be your demise, so I don’t see that you have much of a choice.

But I have faith. Faith enough that I am putting my hard-earned money into your stock, and faith enough that I am willing to wait two years to give you my harded earned money in exchange for a fantastic Ford product.

Ford finally makes an awesome car and they won’t sell it in the US. It’s no wonder they’ll be filing for chapter 11 bankruptcy in the next few months.

For those of you who think that vehicles in other countries don’t get better gas mileage then you haven’t driven a Ford built for Germany or even for any other country. They are allowed to build shoddy equipment in the US because the American people allow them too. Quit buying their cars until they build these types of vehicles in the States. Fords in Germany get 54mpg on the freeway because the people over there aren’t snowed by deceitful marketing ploys like the US. Americans believe whatever the TV tells them. They believe these companies when they say that they “can’t develop vehicles today that would get over 30mpg with current technologies”. Umm..liars. You’re doing it for the other countries because they won’t let you sell in their country unless you do. Oh and you have the same “weight” on these vehicles as the ones you sell here. (shipped a few vehicles in my day) Remember the Ford Festiva? (53mpg is what I got with mine) Now they have devious marketing ploys where they say “up to 30 mpg” or the difference between city and highway is so huge. But Americans gobble it up instead of doing the research. Make these companies build better cars by buying foreign cars until they get it right.

I know exactly what you mean, a couple months ago I ran across a vehicle that surprised me. A 1964 Plymouth Valiant Signet 200. What’s so surprising about that you may ask, well on average it had 40 miles to the gallon and it was a V6. My focus which weights a couple hundred pounds less roughly gets 32,33 miles to the gallon and that’s if I baby it around. It’s a shame what the car companies have done to get more money. We as America wonder how come we’re in a 10 Trillion dollar debt and it’s stupid reason’s like this, the car companies get to much money for the cars their building. Now don’t get me wrong, I love my Focus. I’ve put that thing through hell and back and it’s still running but honestly I don’t think I paid my money’s worth. 13K for a vehicle when I could of paid 1.5K for the Plymouth and it was near mint condition. Now their working on the Hybrid SUV’s which get nearly 30 miles to the gallon and I’m thinking “This is an SUV, not a car. The aerodynamics are completely different and this thing should be getting over 40 if it’s a hybrid” but I guess if you increase the gas mileage by 10 it’s considered a hybrid? Or maybe the companies are beginning to realize “Hm, these car’s aren’t selling. The economy’s going for smaller, cheaper, lighter, faster, better cars not these big massive SUV’s which get horrible gas mileage and no one really wants a part of.” Here’s an idea boys - Stop beating around the bush and get this shit done! I would love to see this in America, this is beautiful and I really want one. I’ll give you a clap on this one, you did a good job but why only Europe? They always get the cooler things before America does and by the time we get it there’s so many changes made to it and it’s all jacked up and switched around and whatnot that it’s basically not even the same car.

I had a 1990 Ford Festiva and got 47 mpg, bought a 2007 Focus and had the worst problems I have ever had with a car and it didn’t get any better mileage then my 96 Mustang GT gets, now that is sad. Ford has so many great concept cars they just dont release. I really hope they understand people grow tired of the same boring cars year after year. People in the U.S need new more exciting AFFORABLE cars the “RS” is a exciting car with great styling but very similar to the styling of the Honda CRX. The “Verve” is another great, beautiful, exciting car able to touch on the youth with its modern interior cell phone looking gauges. I myself find all cars out in the market to be boring and buy whats out there only due to the fact there is nothing else worth getting, but Ford’s conept cars excite me and hope that we will soon see these cars cruising down my local street, or hitting up some rugged terrain with their more aggressive looking off-road vehicles, or even sitting in my garage. Either way I hope Ford takes the initiative and produces these cars to the U.S public soon. We need to feel “aww struck” once more about the vehicles we see and these concept cars just do it.

I will agree with most of the comments here about your not making this car available in the US. You want market share in the US, well, bring us the cool cars and we will but them.

Please, Ford, bring these Euro models to the US. Please DON’T dumb them down, submit them to marketing-committee-think or second-guess the original designs. You have a top-notch design department both in Europe and in the US, with J Mays in the company. Let these designers do their best, and then build the cars. You’ll see the sales. Best of luck…

Well this is Ford´s department of Europe it has nothing to do with America´s department, the kinetic design is suposed to be for Europe…

The next focus in the USA will be a global Ford Focus model. Presumably, it will be as cool as this car is… so please be patient.

Why can Ford not get it right and sell this in the US. I am constantly looking for a good performance 4 ddor since I have a family, but your choices are in the 23k plus range. If it offered even decent mileage(similar to a civic si), people would buy it(especially if it was cheaper than an SI). I don’t understand what keeps Ford from producing the fun, interesting cars from Europe in the US. Heck, they pay twice as much for gas over there and they get some of the best performing vehicles, which I’m sure don’t get the best mileage. I know one thing; if this Focus RS were too release as a 2010 or 11 model, it’s base price was sub 20k, it got at least 24 mpg city, and I could get it in black, I would be all over it. I would even risk sleeping on the couch fro w few weeks to sneak this thing home before I told my wife what it was. I would use three words, hopefully; focus, 4 door, cheap payment.

I live in the uk and can’t wait to get my hands on the new focus RS. I must admit, I was a bit suprised to learn that this won’t be available in the US and agree with the other guys comments. To whom it may concern, I have been a fan of Ford all my life and my family was a Ford family for just abotu as long as I can remember. Now things have changed we ALL love the Toyotas, and Ford is doing nothing but pissing us all off. I’d love to buy american, but the lack of quality isn’t the reason I don’t, it’s the fact that you guys send all your best vehicles over seas. Think about the USA for once, bring production back over here, bring the people who made you who you were back. It not then we might as well get used to FORD may it REST IN PEACE, and LONG LIVE TOYOTA, KING OF THE AUTO MAKERS. Kind of makes you sick to your stomach doesn’t it?
