It’s Here: The Ford Flex Is Ready for Consumers

Ford Flex
Ford Flex

It’s been just over a year since Ford Motor Company unveiled the Ford Flex at the 2007 New York International Auto Show, but there’s been enough anticipation around this iconic new crossover to make it seem longer than that. Now, the wait is just about over: The Flex will hit Ford dealerships at the end of June, and demand is already high for this much-talked-about new vehicle. It’s expected to set the standard in its class, offering drivers a spacious and adaptive way to get around.

The Flex caused a sensation on its debut. Car and Driver called it “a vehicle whose looks we get excited about” and Automobile magazine described it as an “impressive package” with “nearly endless headroom” in an interior that “will be the best in the Ford lineup.” And no wonder: it really does offer everything for today’s driver, from bold new design to excellent handling to a roomy interior that allows for any number of ways to fit people, things, or whatever else an active lifestyle brings.

To see just what all the buzz is about, visit Ford’s Flex website.

I don't blame you..the flex is one ugly ass car...like most american vehicles
Gerald says (November 21, 2008 at 10:45 am):
There is the European again: I do not understand the taste of the Americans. I am happy that in Europe we have the Ford S-Max and Ford Galaxy.
I hope that we do not get such vehicles in Europe.
Ryan Schuyler says (November 10, 2008 at 10:55 pm):
I recently rented one of these, a 2009, and I hardily disagree with some of the negative reviews regarding the Flex. It was one of the most comfortable and smoothest rides I have ever had the privilege to drive in. We embarked on a 9 hour road trip to Las Vegas and not once was I uncomfortable or dissatisfied with the car's performance, luxury or mpg. First off, the leg room in this car was amazing, easily accommodating my elevated friend who is 6'9. We averaged 25-28 mpg on the freeway, a far cry from these 15-17 estimates, even if that was city miles. The Sirius radio in the car was a nice addition as well. I am not a fan of Fords usually, but Ford impressed me on this one. For anyone who judges a book by its cover, get into one of these and see for yourself, please don't take my word for it

I'm sorry but what the heck were you driving?? I own an 09 Flex and I drive roughly 50 miles a day in it and all but 2 miles of that is interstate. Now I do not have a lead foot i drive between 62 and 66 mph and I can only muster up 19.7-20.4 mpg out of this thing. I love this car but the mpg is by far the downfall of this vehicle. I have taken longer trips with never any worrys of comfort, it rides great, it has outstanding room, but unless you drive just a few miles to work everyday then you need to lok for something that gets closer to the 25-30mpg rating.

GF Seser says (October 20, 2008 at 7:35 pm):
Why is a car named Flex not Flex Fuel ready?
If I was Ford, I would be embarrassed.
Fozz says (October 3, 2008 at 9:15 am):
will this car come to london???

Jim Venizelos says (September 23, 2008 at 9:54 am):
So this is Ford's vision of revamping it's struggling market share? Once again, the execs of our big three fail to look into the future. The car buying trends are not focusing on gaudy luxury and fancy trinkets. Americans want dependability, economy, and fuel efficiency. Who's going to buy one of these impractical vehicles? What's the MPG's, 15-17? Good luck, Ford, in selling enough of these to break even.
Jarledda says (September 17, 2008 at 2:12 am):
Ya'll should put dis truck thingy on 22's and let it roll down da street. Betta yet put a spension dat lowas is ride, come on now get it togeda. We's want it like dat.
allenataliesmom says (August 23, 2008 at 10:46 am):
My husband and I owned at least one Ford vehicle every one of the last 45 years. I, therefore, looked at the Ford Flex site, and I am sad to say I am disappointed about what I saw.

Flex should be a FLEX-FUEL car if Ford wants to be a big player in the US auto market again. I know you manufacture cars that run on 85% ethanol. Why not market these? Flex-fuel cars should also run on any alcohol based fuel (any ethanol or methanol) and/or unleaded gasoline.
ANONYMOUS says (August 20, 2008 at 7:02 am):
My dad is not crazy about this car but I certainly am, and I want it bad! Way to go Ford!
Shannon Machovec says (August 15, 2008 at 9:47 pm):
It is a long time comming and you will make so many people happy, I'm a Ford girl and can,t wait to get a heavy duty flex fuel,Solar or hybred truck. If you made a F350 or larger I will buy it right now!!!!!! But I may concider a flex while I,m waiting. Bravo Ford

Matthew Bryant says (August 7, 2008 at 10:57 pm):
I had the privelage to see this feat of a quasi-crossover vehicle, and i was astounded by its flawless body lines and interior design.
When i discovered that Ford Motor Co. was puttting the concept on the road, i smiled ear to ear! I was absolutely excited about possibly getting to test drive it!
All in all, this vehicle will undoubtedly sell like wildfire at the Ford dealerships, just as the 1965 Mustang did on its debiut, since this car is in a class of its own. I'm looking forward to seeing it on the road, Ford!
Frank says (August 7, 2008 at 10:22 am):
