I, too, am wondering WHEN we get these vehicles. At present, I drive a VW diesel — 53 mpg hwy.

The new 2009 VW’s now have a “premium” added to the sticker. The value for the dollar is somewhat high even in todays market. The premium is an outrage.

I need to replace a vehicle. I would much prefer a Ford diesel as I have driven them in Germany.

When do we get these cars?

Dont be silly. Ford USA just rips off its customers by offering inferior products to unsuspecting customers. I recently moved from the UK to USA and am dying to find a new Diesel, fuel efficient vehicle, unfortunately, Ford dont have any. They dont even do a high spec Focus, New shape Euro Mondeo is non existent, they could wipe the floor with the competition by offering Fiesta Model and really cheap motoring. Role on Autumn when the new VW Jetta Diesel comes out. Quit complaining about high gas prices and instead, complain about poor offerings from Car Manufacturers who make fuel efficient, high spec cars in Europe and dont want to do the same in the USA.

When are these vehicles available / when will prices be published? Ford dealers are unaware of them !

It is just a matter economics. Our idiot leaders say they must save the planet. In so doing, they have placed the planet’s most stringent standards on automakers, Caterpillar recently withdrew from mfg any highway diesel engines. The Isuzu/General Motors duramax fuel economy has been reduced by 25-30 just to comply. Of course they are merely playing to their radical base! We cannot get 73 mpg 2009 Ford Fiesta, but they allow a semi truck that burns 100 gals fuel per day a waiver, it will put out more contaminants in a month than the Fiesta would put out in it’s lifetime.
