Ford Fiesta

Small cars are having a moment. Ford of Europe unveiled the Ford Fiesta at the 2008 Geneva Auto Show and they’re anticipating a warm reception from a new generation of customers. Designed and developed in Europe, Ford Fiesta will be on sale in Europe, Asia, South Africa, Australia and the Americas between 2008 and 2010. It’s the first major product of Ford’s new global product development process.

Ford calls it “the next chapter of the Fiesta success story.” The popular small car sold more than 12 million units since its introduction in 1976, and the newest model delivers value for money while embodying the “kinetic design” philosophy central to the designs coming out of Ford of Europe. “This new car embodies the very essence of Fiesta – fun, vitality and emotion,” said John Fleming, President and CEO, Ford of Europe.

The new Ford Fiesta is closely related to the Verve Concept vehicle that was at the 2007 Frankfurt Auto Show. The Frankfurt car was one of three Verve Concepts, with the others, both four-door sedans tailored for regional market tastes, shown recently at Guangzhou in China and the North American International Auto Show in Detroit. These concepts paved the way for the company’s new global small car program for the 2008 to 2010 period. The European Fiesta will be the first to go into production, starting in the fall of 2008. By 2010, this new small-car family will be manufactured in Europe, Asia and the Americas.

I HAVE WORKED WITH FORD FOR A MANY YEARS. IT IS GREAT TO SEE THEM GOING BACK TO SMALL, ECONOMICAL, AND BEST OF ALL PRICED RIGHT VEHICLES. THE FIESTA AND THE FESTIVA WOULD COMPETE WITH ANY OF THE OTHER AUTO MAKERS COMPACTS. GREAT IDEA. IT IS ABOUT TIME. I WILL OWN ONE WHEN THEY COME OUT. THANKS FORD

FORD: I am a delivery driver for new FORD vehicles; I drive them all; Please get us an affordable Diesel in Focus, Fiesta, Mustang or small truck. It will sell. Get some guts and help us please. I am tired of old technology and jobs going overseas.
Ken says (April 22, 2008 at 8:05 pm):
Boooorrrrriiiinnnnngggg, the typical Ford garbage, absolutely void of any styling. I see all those beautiful Ford European cars, why are they not being built for the USA market? Up until 2003 I drove nothing but Fords, since then I have driven nothing but Chrysler, and on my way to eiter Toyota or Volkswagon unless the American car manufacturers can make something that I actually want!
five_buck_a_gallon_gas says (April 22, 2008 at 7:10 pm):
Please include a diesel for the USA. Even if it is a loss leader, it will do wonders for fords reputation to be the MPG leader in the USA.
WILLIAM STEWART says (April 20, 2008 at 11:17 pm):
OKAY... WHEN MY FAMILY CAR DIES, I WILL BE BUYING THE LOWEST PRICE, HIGHEST MPG, MOST DURABLE, NON-HYBRID AUTO AVAILABLE. THAT LOOKS LIKE A YARIS TODAY... COME ON FORD, GET WITH IT...
eric says (April 18, 2008 at 7:31 pm):
Just put a little 4 cyl diesel in it that is all I ask and I will sell my motorcycle the next day
HUGH says (April 16, 2008 at 11:40 am):
What happened to the Verve's lines, and provocative styling?
Alex says (May 7, 2008 at 11:15 pm):
Thats the 07 Fiesta in those pics, we will be getting the '09 model as shown here http://autoshows.ford.com/233/2008/04/30/ford-fiesta-debuts-auto-china/ Its basically the verve. Looks stunning.
Virginia G. says (April 15, 2008 at 12:43 pm):
Personally I can't wait for this car to come to the US. I owned a 78 Fiesta, 89 Festiva and lastly a 93 Festiva which I reluctantly gave up in 2006 for a Toyota Yaris. If Ford had an equivalent car at the time I would have bought it then. Ford...I pray this car is as reliable as the Festiva, inexpensive and gets great gas mileage....I "may" just switch back!
Robert R says (April 10, 2008 at 1:20 am):
Nice car. I wouldn't mind having this.
Harvey says (April 8, 2008 at 3:13 pm):
I like this car, I like it alot--just get it over here now and start building here now...and please--- mercifully kill off the American Focus........dear Lord......you guys seriously wasted too much money resurrecting dead..... I mean my gawd that thing looks like totally bastardized piece of crap to be quite honest. I really believe the stateside design crew should stop being so lazy and arrogant and start opening up their minds a bit.
jerry says (April 12, 2008 at 4:57 pm):
I have been personaly been sending FoMoCo management, sales, executives, hell even sent one e-mail to little Bill himself for 7 years to send the Fiesta over here. Quote, " the market is not favorable for this car or our customers in USA". One guy wrote back saying he personaly knows VW loses $600 on every TDI they sell, hence no fiesta. Well I owned 2 of them in the 80's. The must have made something on them in the 70's to bring them over here. Well I no longer work for Ford as they closed the Norfolk Plant. I can tell you from experience that the mindset is to make money even if they build just one a year. I don't know how they remain in business. I broke down and bought my first Toyota-$200- 245000 miles. Damn I got to buy a blessed radio for it-jeese!
John C says (April 4, 2008 at 9:46 pm):
Its good to see ford finally bringing A car it should have had here already. looks like there will still be A 2 year wait for this car to be in the U S. meanwhile cars like yaris and fit will already have A stronghold.
brett says (April 3, 2008 at 12:41 am):
It's about time Ford brings their product back into the states!!!! Ford needs to bring their exports back in......to kick the imports out (Honda, Toyota} Bleeding the BLUE OVAL.
Dan Boomer says (March 15, 2008 at 6:43 am):
This car beats the crap out of a mustang anyday!!! This car alone could be Ford's savior. I have owned 7 fiestas in the past and i loved every one of them, sporty yet economical, luxurious yet simple. All I have to say is, it's about time.
