2009 Ford Edge
2009 Ford Edge

The 2009 Edge Sport makes it debut at the 2008 Chicago Auto Show. Designed appeal to customers who want a sportier custom look and feel, Edge Sport keeps up with customers’ interest in personalization and industry shows like the Specialty Equipment Market Association Show in Las Vegas.

The Sport model – which joins the SE, SEL and Limited models in the range – makes the Ford Edge the first vehicle in its segment to offer a customized model. Its design and features like VistaRoof™ and SYNC helped make Ford Edge the nation’s top-selling crossover.

Edge Sport stands on available 22-inch polished aluminum wheels or the standard 20-inch premium painted wheels with branded center hubs. 40-series Pirelli Scorpion Zero tires complete the look. This marks the first time that a 22-inch wheel-and-tire combination has been offered on a crossover. The eight-piece Edge Sport body kit includes a unique front air dam, side skirts, lower door caps and a rear skirt, all finished in body color, instead of the dark lower on other Edge models. The front air dam features integrated fog lamps and a lower grille insert.

“The aftermarket industry has grown to a $40 billion annual business, and crossovers are the fastest-growing vehicle segment in the U.S.,” said Mark Fields, president of The Americas. “We want customers to know that Ford can customize their Edge – right at the factory.”

The 2009 Ford Edge Sport will be available in the fall of 2008.

Anonymous says (May 12, 2008 at 10:59 pm):
hybrid's are lame it would be way better with a clean diesel engine and much faster than a hybrid

Fabian says (April 26, 2008 at 5:48 pm):
The car is ok. No need to copy Scions idea of customizing.
Matman says (April 25, 2008 at 5:16 pm):
When gas hits $5.00 a gallon, you'll wish that you had a hybrid!
Anonymous says (April 19, 2008 at 4:41 pm):
I agree-- a hybrid would be better.
rkr says (April 24, 2008 at 9:13 am):
Please read some of the articles written on hybrids in publications like Popular Mechanics "Hybrid Hype". You will find that the long term cost of owning hybrid vehicles is more than non-hybrid (including gas at $4/gallon) and the environmental impact is worse when you have to replace the battery.
ROOSTER says (April 16, 2008 at 10:47 am):
*meh*.....doesnt look THAT different.....frankly, I think they should have put their efforts into building an EDGE Hybrid instead....
Harvey says (April 14, 2008 at 3:13 pm):
I like the Edge-- I like the appearance, the interior, the sync, the handling and power. And as much as I dislike the over use of the 3 bar grille---it looks fine here. The only thing I guess I didnt expect was the storage behind the rear seats was bit small---but there is nothing you can do about that without killing the looks-- so it is a valid trade off I suppose. A tarted-up version is a good thing---It has general good looks to begin with so it would only be fitting to have it roll on some big wheels (seems to be all rage right now). Please no wings or cheap body flare kits....
Thomas Stummer says (March 29, 2008 at 10:00 am):
What is the gas mileage gong to be for the 2009 ford edge?
Team Bigazzi says (March 28, 2008 at 3:06 pm):
Supercharge the V6 or drop in a 4.6 V8 and I would be an instant customer!
Tyler says (March 24, 2008 at 9:44 pm):
Looks great! I think there should have been an option for racing stripes to give it a meaner, faster look.
Mark Simpson says (March 16, 2008 at 5:25 pm):
A buddy of mine always comments " Man, I like the look of that!" everytime we see a Ford Edge out on the road, and he drives a Dodge Ram pickup. All I see is a tricked out looking mini van. What is it that I'm not seeing in this vehicle?
not yours says (April 2, 2008 at 8:24 pm):
Well my friend, I'm sorry for you. plus a minivan has sliding rear doors. duh!!!
Ryan says (March 4, 2008 at 9:46 pm):
I would have to say chevy is better than ford....Then its Ford...Sorry
Ryan says (March 11, 2008 at 9:30 am):
Well then you are in the wrong place...Ford vehicles are exceptional in quality, performance, and design. Within the last four years, Ford Motor Company has made great strides and will continue to do so. The best is yet to come.
Anonymous says (March 4, 2008 at 7:52 pm):
Very Nice! Look forward to getting one.....
