order my 2009 FEH on april 17th and received it on July 28th. my delar tells me that ford fill dealer allocations for FEHs on a rotational basis. for example, if my dealer had three ordered, they would not receive the 2nd one until other dealers had received their first one. I luv my FEH !!! First 2 tanks avg 32 MPG with about 75% interstate driving using A/C in the afternoon drive home.

Ordered a FEH on July 7th and still no information as to production or delivery. Anyone else with a July order that has heard anything constructive from their dealer, other than still no information?

Ordered my 2009 Mariner Hybrid in June and have heard nothing on it. How can one dealer get quick delivery and another tell you it isn’t being produced until September? Do they play favorites?

I too ordered a 2009 FEH in late May from a NY dealer. No VIN as of yet and no further info, but I can buy 1 out of 5 choices from Mossy Ford in San Diego, CA if I want right now. I thought retail orders took priority over dealer stock and fleet sales?

Just spoke with my dealer who showed me the email from mercury. It stated they only make 11 cars per month per region. I was on a list to get onto the real list no earlier than November. It seems to be a long process.

My question as well. I know of at least 3 posters of this forum and others like it that ordered back in April and have no VIN yet. I am one of those 3.

I just picked up my Ford Escape Hybrid form the Dealer. I am in Lawrenceburg, IN. The vehicle is amazing from my first hour of driving it. Microsoft Sync is a little frustrating while you get used to it, but by the time I got home I was already initiating voice activated phone calls from my address book like a pro.

Ordered a 2008 in March, with a deposit was bumped to 2009 model , received a VIN# in June and it arrived yesterday!

Not much communication along the way but if my experience holds true, getting a VIN# was a major step,
next info was a date about 6 weeks later that said “in transit” that lasted about 3 weeks until it arrived. It took forever to get a VIN # for the vehicle, but if you get one you are in business!

I am here in Northern Michigan, and initial impression is good. Nice ride, good acceleration…a “wiggle” on the Toyota regenerative hybrid (which we also own). Overall I believe it will be a great vehicle……

I live on Long Island also. I checked with my dealership and he told me that the production of the Escape Hybrid has been moved to Septemeber because they are running behind on completing the 2008’s. Other than that, he told me he submitted my order, it was ok’d and he’s waiting to get the VIN #.

Hopefully they will have enough of the electric batteries because that will delay it even more. Did you see the news when they reported that Ford is setting aside hybrids for the NYC taxis. The salesman was like, um great, just make sure we don’t run into a shortage lol. Where did you order yours? I ordered mine in Syosset.

I ordered my 2009 in April and it will be delivered this week.

I have yet to read whether, or not, the 2009 Escape Hybrid will qualify for a tax credit. The improvements for the 2009 model year I suspect sales will be briske.

I think it’s $3000 but Ford has been awfully quiet on sales of the 2008 EH and in general, very quiet about the sales of the Escape Hybrid. I know because of the Prius popularity, there tax credit is reduced.

Tom, what state do you live in? If the salesman has no info then he must of been off planet earth for a while. Ford’s main website still is showing 2008 Escape Hybrid but if you call Ford’s customer service number (toll-free) they will have info for you. Go to other dealers also because the customer service reps say that the salesmen have all the up to date info. It’s in a fat binder that they have. I got all my info from the customer service rep, I emailed Ford and then went into the showroom were I wanted to purchase the car. I sat down with the salesman and sure enough there was that huge binder and we went over the colors, options and whether I wanted the XLT or the Limited version.
For example: the multi-cd changer is ony available as an option in the limited editon EH. The Navigation/Audiophile/Energy status option is only available on the limited edition also. Basically, if you go to the 2008 Escape Hybrid on the Ford’s website, the options are split between the limited and XLT editions. Add some cost also, the Navigation package is closer to $3000.
Im guessing that if the dealers don’t know anythign about the 2009 EH, they either don’t plan to have any (puchase them from Ford) Escape Hybrids, they choose to not do the research, or don’t want to sell you one.he last one would really be in poor taste.
Also, go on google and type in 2009 Escsape Hybrid. There is more info now then there was 2 months ago. I live in New York State, if you’d like to talk to a car dealer here, let me know, I can give you the phone nuumber of the dealership that I ordered my car from.

*Update for everyone* I just found out today from the salesman that I ordered my car from, the 2009 Escape Hybrids are delayed and won’t be in prodiction until September. They were still finishing the 2008s. The 2009 EH was suppose to be in production June 23rd.

I ordered my 2009 Hybrid about 4 weeks ago. The production date was this past monday (7/14) and it will be here on 7/23… I got the limited edition with nav, etc… it’s going to be green… I’m super impressed with the quickness of my awesome dealership

You should double check, because I don’t think you will be getting it on 7/23 when they haven’t even switched the production plants from 2008 to 2009’s.

Be careful! Hold off on those pats on the backs for your dealership Did you get a VIN # yet. Production was suppose to be June 23rd but it’s delayed until September. This is the information I got from my dealership on Wednesday.

I ordered a Fully optioned 09 FEH on May 31st on Long Island, NY. Spoke with the Dealer today. Still no confirmation other than Status #10 and no VIN. Frustrating.

I’d like to order a 2009 Escape, Mariner, or Tribute Hybrid. But, my dealers are saying they have no info. The official websites have no info. How have you all ordered and determined your options, colors, etc? Thanks!

I agree, the official website should include more information, and also info about the tax credit that will be available.

Your local dealer should be able to tell you what colors/options will be available. You may have a hard time seing color samples for the available colors, but you should be able to figure it out.

Went to dealer here in AZ. No questions asked. They produced an order form. Not that many options. Max retail about $34k without sales tax. Good luck!

I ordered mine in June. If everything goes quietly, I should have it in September. I presently am driving a 2005 Escape Hybrid with 45k miles on it. I have the Navigation/Audiophile/Energy info with 6 cd-changer and the family package. I figure to trade it in now. No sense in re-financing. I have a high APR on my finance presently so I figure to walk out with a new car, no money down (not including the trade-in), and an APR cut in half. From September to June (I’m a teacher) I am in a lot of traffic and idling at traffic lights a lot. I commute back and forth from Long Island (Nassau County) to NYC (Queens). I heard the ‘09 now goes electric as high as 30mph.
I ordered the FWD/XLT Light Ice Blue Escape Hybrid. I skipped the multi-cd changer since my wife got me a Ipod for my birthday. I hardly changed the cd;s that I have in my cd changer now and they are scratched badly. I’m looking foward to the MS Sync as well as the satelite radio.

I did not realize the 2005 Escape had a navigation system in it or the Audiofile. I love both features. I do not have a hybrid just the regular Escape. Love it but would like a 2009 because of the extra features but owe to much on my current one. I like my current 08 Limited Escape so I will enjoy it for as long as I have it. Ordered a Mariner Hybrid a month ago and just got word that it is in production and could have it within 4-6 weeks. I agree the only way to get one is to order it. Keep the faith…reviews have been awesome. Looking forward to saving a little $ and being eco-friendly.

I placed my order for a 2009 Ford Escape Hybrid with my dealer on May 9th using an X-Plan. The estimated delivery date was July 7th, I called my dealer today to ask how the delivery was going and he said the vehicle was already built and was in transit form the factory to the dealership. I should get it either Friday or Monday. Now if only I could get some kind of confirmation on the tax credit for the 2009 model.

I ordered my FEH at the Haag Ford Dealership in Lawrenceburg, IN. I ordered a basic FEH with no extra options (the dealer will install leather seats locally). I received my VIN number back on June 19th. I am patiently waiting for it too arrive, I have not heard back from the dealer yet, how long does it usually take to ship the vehicle from Kansas to Indiana?

Sounds great for you Alex. Could you provide us with the model/options of your FEH as well as the city/state/dealership. I want to try and figure out how the orders are built. I ordered mine on 22 April and I still do not have a VIN yet. THANKS!

I ordered my escape hybrid on May 23 with the dealership here in Memphis telling me that the 2008 was no longer available to order the 2009 which would be 6 - 8 weeks for delivery. How much longer do I have to wait??

Anywhere from 3-6 months or maybe longer if they run out of Hybrid parts namely the battery that sits in the trunk. I live on Long Island and the dealership near me were I ordered my 2009 EH said at the earliest, in September.

Ordered my 2009 Escape Hybrid 4×4 back in May, Dealer is still getting the “no production date” from his area rep, and I am getting impatient. Though I will wait until Sept if necessary, I have a newborn and really need the larger vehicle sooner rather than later. Luckilly I live near the KC plant, so hopefully transit time wont be long (maybe they will let me go pick it up!)

The 2009 Escape Hybrid doesn’t go into production until 6/23/08 and they wouldn’t be in the showroom until the end of August. They strongly suggest that you factory or it as you might of noticed that you hardly see a 2008 EH in the showroom. Ford’s customer relations line has most of the answers while your local dealerships have the rest. I have a 2005 Escape Hybrid and I factory ordered my 2009 EH at the beginning of June and the car dealer said that it was recieevd by Ford and ok’d. Barring any shortages of the Hybrid battery and it should be ready to be picked up in September. A lot of fleets are using the Escape Hybrid and don’t forget, most NYC cabs are now Hybrids. The only way to own a 2009 Escape Hybrid is factory ordering it. I wish Ford would update its website already. I did a lot of investigation concerning the options and the base price. There’s not a lot of wiggle space since the car is so popular now, you say fine I don’t want it for this price, someone else will come in and say I’ll take it.
If your wondering; My APR on my 2005 is 7.65% and while my residual is about $10k-$14k for a trade in, I save $1000 in taxes and I’m getting 3.99%-5.99% APR with new loan (more like 4.99).

I’d love to see a Excape Hybrid powered with Compresses Natural Gas (CNG). You’d get the same or better milage, cleaning running engine plus you’d pay less than $3.00/Gallon, I pay $2.28 for my Civic, plus your sticking it to Big Oil.

I see plenty of questions, but no replies. what kind of game is Ford Motor Company playing? I too am interested in an “Escape Hybrid”, but find Ford’s website grossly lacking in up to date information.

Does anybody have the name of a dealer in Georgia selling the Ford Excape Hybrid on the X-Plan. I have had two deallers back out of the deal.

When do you guys think Ford will have the vehicle certified with the IRS for a tax credit? The 2008 model was certified in January 2007. Why has the 2009 model still not been certified in June 2008!!!!!!

Wendy, I have been going through a similar situation here in Southern California. I finally had it explained to me that because the Hybrids are in such high demand, and usually sold out, most sales people will try to put you in another vehicle that is not usually half as fuel economical. Stick to your guns Sister, and get the car that “You” want.

Where do you live…in a cool, or hot climate. Have you had to run your AC much…I live in TX and will need to run the AC quite alot, as would the FL person wondering the same thing….
We have been considering the hybrid, but if the mileage is severely affected by running the AC…what is the point???

We have the Mercury Mariner Hybrid ( same car as Escape) and live in California. We use our AC all the time. The hybrid comes with an ecno button. If you use the button you will get the same mileage as you would if you did not run the AC. Also, the warmer the weather the better your mileage. Has something to do with the battery. It’s a great car! We average 32-34 mpg. I would wait for the plug in model. Should be out soon. You’ll get the first 40 miles from the battery before gas kicks in.

I get (a 4wd version) about 31 MPG in the spring and fall (no air) around 29.5 summer and 28 in the winter … I LOVE the car and plan to buy a second (my wife got tired of me always driving HERS )

I am also a Florida resident. I have yet to hear how much the a/c will affect the fuel results. We use the a/c all the time…

Wow they must be very popular at this time. I remember when I got my 08 Escape the Hybrids were just sitting on the lot collecting dust. They were not selling that well. They 09’s are probably going to be a big seller.

I own the 2008 Ford Escape Limited with all the options of the escape, Navigation, leather, piano black dash, chrome, ect. I love it. What I want is the SYNC and was wondering why Ford did not add it to the 08 model. Now it is on the 09 model along with more horse power and transmission. I got my 08 in February 07 so I have had it almost year and half. I should not be thinking of gettin an 09 Escape but am thinking of it because I want the SYNC and more horsepower sounds good to. Gosh, what to do. I know keep my 08 Escape.

I am unable to find any information on the Websites about the new 2009 Ford Escape Hybrid, with respect to pricing and availability. Why do you showcase a vehicle and then not follow it up with more information and info on the Web and at dealers showrooms? The Web only refers to 2008 models.
Please provide me with the information that I’m looking for, specific to 2009 models only.

Current owner of 1999 Ford Explorer XLT 4WD. Still runs great and I’ve enjoyed it. Paying for the fuel? Not so enjoyable!

In addition to which, want to do my part to husband our natural resources, including the air we breathe, wisely. Time for new vehicle and I am partial to the 2009 PHEV Escape.

Like everyone else I want to know, when can I get it? Off to order at my dealer next week. Hoping the AC issue has been addressed in this model. Living in SoCal (southern california) with far too many 100 days, ac is a fact of life and welcome part of modern life.

Good to see so many folks all over the US encouraging Ford. I’ll be honest, if I had the $ I’d be buying the Tesla. Good for the environment, great electric performance vehicle and sexy too.

When my ship comes in….

I live in Florida and am considering the Escape Hybrid. I received an email from a local dealer stating that since the engine has to be running for the AC to work, I would not get the good gas mileage and am better off getting the nonhybrid version.

Would like opinions of Escape Hybrid owners who live in Florida or another warm climate where AC is required most of the year.

Got the following email from my dealer today:

Sometimes Ford can be a nightmare to deal with….this is one of those times. All of the Hybrids that were available for June/July production have already been scheduled. They are ONLY producing retail orders (vehicles factory ordered by customers) in the order that they are submited. If I were to put in an order now they do not have a running total of how many are available for August production because they have not scheduled the orders for that period yet. Bottom line…IF your order was pulled for August production (chances are at this point if it were to get pulled it would be late August) you would see your vehicle sometime in late September. I can’t promise you that you will get the vehicle you order at any specific time or at all. I sincerely wish I had better news. Would you like me to put together your order and submit it to see what happens?

I went ahead and pre-ordered but there is no guarantee it will actually arrive. We will see!

when did you order ? I ordered mine on 5-12-08 for a 2009 limited fwd, sort of wondered when you ordered as I have not had feedback from my dealership.

I have never owned a Ford Vehicle, although I do admire several of their products. If Ford does produce a PHEV Escape, I will be standing in line to become a member of the Blue Oval family!

I plan on buying an escape fall of 09. This is my list of todo’s for the ford escape.

1: 19in rim and tire package like the Range Rover LRS HSE
2: Double Roof Glass like the LR2
3: Add A/C to the Heated Seat Pkg.
4: SYNC that baby with work solutions pkg
5: 9in Navigation Screen in the dash.
6: Keep the back glass swinging up or a push button power down into the bottom half.
7: Rear hatch make it a tail gate, similar to the old Bronco. with the feather light tailgate assist that would be awesome, if i remember right that was the complaint on the Bronco, the tailgate was to heavy.
8: Dual sun visors with telescoping pop outs to give you real sun blocking ability.
9: improve the 2nd rate rear seat. Give it a fold down arm rest like the LRD. Let the seats recline like the Expedition, and let the rear windows go all the way down.
10: Offer an unlimited package with upgraded perferated leather, with the Black interior, and add some charachteristics of the F150 FX4 interior Blk on Blk.
11: Did I say Bigger Nav screen.
12: If your really want to be outragious, put an air bag suspention on it for offroad purposes, for better clearance and ride (Range Rover does it and it is amazing.)
13: A fold flat passenger seat for even better corgo options.

With the tail gate change you could actually go camping and sleep in the back of the escape with out hanging over. and if the glass powered in you could make runs to home depot buy a two or three taller trees and be able to transport them on the tail gate. Just give it a Five Hundred pound rating.

I own a Ford Escape Hybrid and the technology is awesome…35 mpg over the course of 5 months of ownership! It drives wonderfully. My only knock against the vehicle is the cheap plasitc molding. Other than that small critisism, the vehicle rates Outstanding. However, I’m a bit disappointed in Ford for not seeing the need to further the development of alternate fuel vehicles…it may be the demise of a great American automaker!

when will dealers begin to take orders on 2009 hybrid Escapes?

I just ordered a 2009 Escape Hybrid with the X plan. They told me delivery is about 8 -10 weeks away.

I already pre-ordered my 2009 Ford Escape Hybrid at a local dealer with the X-Plan. You can get them now, just go talk with a car salesman at any Ford dealership.

I cannot see why Ford should not put the Plug-in hybrid at the forefront of development. My only choice is Prius right now or Honda’s hybrid. If batteries are a problem why not design the car to take advantage of replaceable technology. If something comes along that is better than Lithium-Ion we just replace the batteries. Come on marketing, engineering, development and C-level executives. take the oppurtunity to spped up development. It can’t be that hard…Also I like the idea of actually having motors in the wheels themselves. As you know the Volt will have this technology. Lets get moving on this guys. Since I cannot by a full hybrid Escape I am now forced to buy a Prius…Let me know if you need any input. I am an engineer and just cannot understand the pushback here…I am open for additional comments and/or conversations. Take advantage of the current market and be Ford #1 again, not only in quality…My Best

The “pushback” is big oil. If American automakers were not in bed with ‘big oil’, we would already have 50 MPG vehicles. That is the only explanation.
