Calling it Ford’s “most capable truck ever,” Alan Mulally, Ford Motor Company’s President and CEO, described the 2009 Ford F-150 as a proud example of Ford’s strategy of listening to its customers. “We talked to them, engineered a solution, and tested it to make sure it’s built Ford tough,” Mulally said.

Country music star Toby Keith, Professional Bull Rider Justin Mc Bride, NASCAR’s Rick Crawford and Monster Jam’s Linsey Weenk joined Mark Fields, Ford’s President, The Americas, onstage at the 2008 North American International Auto Show in Detroit to announce the 2009 F150 series, touting its customizability and options. The F-150 has three cab styles, four box options, and seven unique trim levels, making 35 unique configurations to meet the widest range of customer needs. The F-150 is “new all around” and now includes Platinum series. The F-150 is one of six major launches in 2008 for Ford.

“The Ford F-150 is an American icon, said Fields, “Ford is the truck leader, and F-150 customers expect and demand the best truck on the market.” More than 1,000 Ford engineers, designers, and researchers worked together to develop the new 2009 F-150, drawing on feedback and research from Ford’s customer base. Ford did not announce the 2009 F-150’s towing or payload capacity, opening up the question to the journalists covering the Auto Show to guess it. The winner will be announced later this year. The prize: the first test drive.

The 2009 Ford F150 will be available in the fall of 2008.

Too bad you guys con't know how to disign a front bumper. If the new ford had a bumper like the new dodga ram then you would have a good looking truck
joe roach says (April 27, 2008 at 2:47 am):
the 09 looks better than the 08 i cant wait to pick up my 09 f-150 fx4!
ibcb says (April 23, 2008 at 3:52 pm):
There are some folks wondering why has Ford only given the 5.4 a 10 horsepower boost. Now, the few websites I have been and they have been scarce reports 310hp. One takes me to a 2002 F-150 reporting 310 horse another flat out state the F-150 has 310, 4.6 3v 290
John says (April 22, 2008 at 5:33 pm):
Been a Ford guy for 30 years-guess it'll be Dodge or Chev to get 400 Hp!!! By Bye!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ali Mulkey says (April 19, 2008 at 2:44 pm):

Harvey says (April 14, 2008 at 1:07 pm):
love the new design-- I have a 2006 model and love that design as well---seems like a natural progression thing. Good luck selling them next year when gas is 5 bux a gallon ---- its too bad really-- I bet its going to be an awesome truck.
MICAHEL says (April 5, 2008 at 9:38 am):
I THINK THIS TRUCK IS AWESOME. I WAS GOING TO TRADE MY 2007 F-150 FOR A NEW CHEVY BUT I'M NOW GOING TO WAIT UNTIL THESE BAD BOYS COME OUT...
ibcb says (March 28, 2008 at 1:47 pm):
This may have been menioned but here it goes. Ford has been tightlipped on the HP for the new engines and I hope it is competitive. Granted we are dealing with a smaller engine compared to the Toyota and Dodge. I am guessing anywhere from 320 to 300 which would work fine for me. A few years back C/D had a show and tested Dodge, Toyota, Nissan, Chevy and Ford and they admitted to the 5.4 being a great engine; but the F-150 was heavy and its best run to 60 was 9.6. Now, I think Ford has listened with the lighter frame, suspension and a few extra tricks to cut down on drag and improvement overall for a more capable truck. Those complaining it is not going to have enough power or won't match the mighty Tundra. Well, let me share this with you. The Tundra came out with a 6spd and has tuned it to stay in the "sweet" spot for erformance. So, this is why it is able to rocket to 60 in 6 sec. With a six speed the ratios are shorter, generally you are able to have a better run than compared to a 5spd. HMMM. Ford is putting a 6 spd in the '09 and I according to the engineers, mechanics and other people I am around; it should shave off half to a full second depending on the tuning and with the market being so competitive, my guess is Ford done its job. So, with more power and a new tranny we would have to wait and see when they test. So, we have a truck with class leading payload, towing, top notch interior, SYNC, lighter and the strongest frame avavilable...........I going to stick with Ford. I'm not to fond of Toyota. They do make a great motor but the truck is a little too ugly for me.
Larry Smith says (March 22, 2008 at 8:57 am):
I have been a ford man all my life and will always be. I have a small buisness doing home repairs. That navigation system would be a great asset to my buisness as well as the side step. I also have a boat that the rear camera system would make life so much easier. Thanks for the new gear and how and when can I get one!!
Bob Jackson says (March 12, 2008 at 10:09 pm):
I have a been a Ford man my entire life but Ford has missed the mark on the redesign. The Ford truck designs in the past stood out and you knew it was a Ford, but now they are starting to look like every other truck out on the road. The side view looks like the old Toyoto Tundra and the front grill and hood looks very close to the new GMC trucks. I can't believe Ford would release a new redesigned truck without updating the engine line. I have a 88 Ford Ranger with 190,00 miles that has been through the war and back and is still running today. Make the Ranger a bit larger and give it 4 full size doors and I will be waiting in line to buy it. Until then I would rather have the 2004-2008 body style F-150 over the 2009 style. I hope Ford updates the Ranger.
Jonathan Romero says (March 11, 2008 at 3:36 pm):
when it comes to the other competators their is no other this is the absolute greatest truck that ive seen in a long time!! look how long it took for toyota to make the tundra that it has!!! It only took Ford four years to make another magnificent truck. Im sure that this F150 will have more towing and space than any other truck.
Bill Ross says (February 28, 2008 at 6:53 pm):
I own a 1997 F-150 reg cab shortbed with 404,213 miles on it, runs like champ. I have nothing by normal maintenance on it. Several of the guys at the shop own Fords and would not own anything else. The boss bought 3 new s-10s all were dead and buried before 100,000. Yet all the used Rangers have run over 220,000 miles before we replace them. Just proves that not only the F-series works long and hard, but so do the Rangers. Ford keep up the good work!
Rick says (February 27, 2008 at 12:07 am):
Just built an F150, and a Tundra, Ford wins in price and quality. The Ford was about $500 cheaper with the trucks being built almost identicaly. The Ford was also cheaper when looking at base price for the two trucks in equivalent trim. I would go with the Ford any day.
Steve says (February 22, 2008 at 8:25 am):
I've owned and driven the F-150s since the 1979 model. Every time ford has changed its looks the better it gets. I drive a 01 f-150 S/C with 198.000 miles on it. I wish I could get my hands on this one during truck month because it makes my blood boil. As far as HP. The dodge hemis are eating them selfs at ariund 45.000 miles and the things nasty to even look at. I'll keep my 4.6L until I drop dead. As a man once said, the only hole my ford won't get me out of is the one they put me into. Great job FMC.
brandon reder says (March 24, 2008 at 8:52 am):
No people don't want Hp they want torque dah!!!!!! Torque hauls more not Hp! Why do you think that ford out tows everybody when they have the least amount of Hp in its class?
adam says (March 6, 2008 at 12:19 pm):
the only way they would need those 5.4 replced is if your people you know drive like stupid people.... when i traded in my last f150 it had 120,00 miles on it and it still ran like a champ so 30,000 mile failuers are certainly an unlikely thing if you treat the engine properly and by that i mean its routine things such as an oil change and change the oil filter. ford owns all trucks and thats a fact... the hemi is a gas sucking sissy engine which just makes more power and no they dont last as long as the 5.4
jacob says (February 29, 2008 at 9:48 am):
ford owns all pickups i have a 99 f150 supercab with 284k and not had any repairs except change the spark plugs in it
Josh says (February 28, 2008 at 1:13 am):
Ok so you know one guy, well woopty do. I know three who have had their 5.4's replaced before 30K, and only one did a small amount of pulling. saying one company is bad because you know of one person who has had a specific problem is dumb. every company has had problems with vehicles it's just the way things are. I don't hold it against Ford for the motors going bad, it's just one of those things that happens.
Rick says (February 27, 2008 at 12:12 am):
My dad runs a shop and they always have more Dodge and Chevy trucks in for major repair. They just had a dodge with only 40k on his hemi in the shop for a new motor. This guy did not pull anything with the truck and most of the miles were hw miles. He also had all his records for his oil changes which were always done on time.
Anonymous says (February 25, 2008 at 3:27 am):
You are freakin crazy with that 45,000 miles BS, I have a buddy who has the 5.7 HEMI in his dodge and he's got just under 100K on it. And people want HP duh.
