This car is amazing!!!! i just bought one last week and the glass top was a great touch! that was the only reason i got the 09 instead of just getting the 08.

This is soooo flyyy…. I seen the glass roof on the Scion, but not on the Mustang… I am at a lost for words… I absolutely love the concept, and will be looking further into getting a Mustang with this feature.

I love it, its very classy. Im very happy its available for the V-6 as well as the GT. It makes it more affordable. I love it.

Ok, doesnt it kinda defeat the purpuse of a convertable? Well, i guess its a good thing because it has the feel of a convertable but if your going somewhere nice, your hair or somthing wouldn’t get messed up… i can’t imagine how it must be cleaning bird poop off that! = D its worth it!

Hey, Kudos to Ford for at least thinking outside of a hard-top! I like the look, a perfect fit in a sunny state (i.e. California). Those mid-westerners can stick to the hard-tops if they’re worried about rain, sleet, hail, tornados, etc. If you’re worried abut security and burglaries, don’t get a Mustang (get a Saturn). My Mustang is only driven on fun, cruzin, outdoor days, I always keep my eye on her. Mustangs should never, NEVER be an everyday auto. If you want an everyday car, get a BMW (like I did).

To the guy who wants a t-top: You obviously are not a mustang lover. Mustangs do not have t-tops — never have and hopefully, never will. Hard top Vettes from the late 60’s and early 70’s. Trans ams, Camaros. These cars look good this way probably because they were made this way. 40 years later, it would not be natural. As for sunroofs on mustangs, let’s face it — except for mustang II’s - which is the equivalent of those awkward, pimple ridden, years we would all like to forget. It would have been better if Mustangs had become extinct after 1973 - and brought back in 2005. Yes — ‘05. I say this having had a real 70′ Boss 302 (which foolishly sold and traded for a ‘74 Mach 1). See what I mean by those awkward years? Our brains aren’t fully developed yet! I was still in high school and got tired of 9 mpg. I thought 20 mpg would be a good thing. I instantly missed my Boss — The 80’s were not much better and even though the 90’s 5.0’s have a strong following — THEY ARE NOT MUSTANGS!!!!

It isnt safe?? Just because you can see through it doesnt mean it isnt safe. Seatbelts were made to keep you attached to the car when it flips the side pillars of the car are the support that keeps your head off of the pavement the glass is safety glass meaning it wont slice and dice you if it breaks. what is any safer about a thin piece of sheet metal? read about the testing it says the folowing :

They test things for safety so just because it dont look safe does not mean it is any less safe than a thin metal roof.

I personally love the look and it will make the long road trips that much more enjoyable instead of feeling couped up so to speak.

Plus I dont flip cars to often if I analised everything in life as safe or not I wouldnt have much fun. So stop worying about death we all die start living and buy the glass roof.

What if you got in a wreck? Wouldnt the glass crash down on you? ( just saying). And couldnt someone break into your car easier? Thats what i think.

Nope, it wouldn’t crash down on you in a wreck. It’s locked in place like a windshield; probably even more so. Ever seen a windshield after something hit it in a wreck?; it is shattered (safety glass) but, it is still in place. Why would this car be less safe from a break-in?? Most criminals use a slim-jim or break a small side window to gain access. It wouldn’t be very easy, efficient or quiet to try to break a glass roof that is constructed the same as a windshield.

heyy this car is so awesome my dad just bout 1 and it is to cool all the cool things on the inside rock. And the glass top makes it even cooler

KEN!!!!! My dad drove us all the way from California to Florida then 3 years later back to Washington. 3 kids, dog, mom and dad in a ‘65 2 2 fastback. We also had a blast in ”66 in California doing the Mustang Road Rally TOO MUCH FUN!!! The whole family went along for the ride!

Uh, I also had a 2001 with auto close at car shut off which I understand is rare. Unlike my ‘68 convertible, it was all weather driving. Advantage: never having to worry that I left the sunroof open in the event of a rouge squall!

Can you say hail storm? Just imagine you are driving one day in your nice new mustang glass top. It’s sunny with a few clouds and you are 50 miles from the nearest shelter. The next thing you know there is a cold front staring you in the face. 10 minutes later you are being hit with cold rain as it tapers off you start to hear the tell tail ping ping of pea sized hail. Then out of nowhere bang bang golfball sized, then bigger. You see your glass roof start to crack, then it caves in and your screwed. Was it worth it?

Bob, you’ve been watching too many Hollywood productions. If anything were to crack, which I doubt it would, it would be the windshield, since it is more verticle and would have the force of the forward momentum of the car. It take something WAY BIGGER than hail to crack this roof!! This type of glass is extremely strong. I would take the safety glass roof over thin sheet metal in a hail storm any day!! You would only have to worry about getting the dents out of the hood and trunk.

I believe the glassback is a great idea. I have written before that I had an additional idea. I’m sure you have seen the Pontiac G6 roof that slides to the rear in I think five or six plates (not exactly sure). My idea was that Ford could put such a roof on the Mustang as a moonroof. Maybe two to four small plates that would slide forward as a moonroof. In addition, by sliding forward it could act as a wind deflector. You could offer it as a separate option, or offer it with the Pony Package and call it the “Super Pony Package”.

the moonroof is a great idea but a power sunroof is a way better idea. but the issue with that is, they assume the people that want that kind of thing just get the convertible, the sunroof would probably make the hardtop with it way more expensive than the convertible of the exact same car and package and stuff

Can I get the moonroof installed on a 2008 mustang? That would be nice if I can get it installed at my dealership or any dealership. I have black 2008 V6 Prem and would really have gone for this option if it would have been offered. I really want the moonroof but afraid that is I get it some other place than Ford I may have problems with it leaking, etc.

Any advice. comments? Think I can get it done at dealer?

I would much prefer a power moonroof/sunroof. I’d even settle for a manual one. Its nice to have natural light, but having that open air feeling as well, you just cant beat it. Its one of my must have options. I’m planning on buying a GT coupe next year,so its a bit disappointing theres no option for it. So if your listening Ford, forget about the glass roof and give us a sunroof instead.

why would we alter the mustang if we could just ask the ford guys to build one with the sunroof… come on guys… why would you deny us the happiness of driving this car with the sunroof… why oh why????!!!!????

I know glass of almost any type has some ultraviolet blocking capability, but this is THE end of the spectrum to be concerned with, as UV is not only what breaks down PVC-based (”vinyl”) et al. plastic upholstery, but is the #1 cause of the near-epidemic of skin cancer, of which ALL types from actinic keratoses to melanoma has begun to show up in statistically significant numbers in what I presume is the Mustang’s main marketing demographic, 25-45 yr olds, and the prevalence only goes up from there.

the only thing that i see wrong with the glass roof option is that someone could break into your car through another window now.

…why would someone try to break a huge window that is as strong or stronger than a winshield when they could just break out a small side window, as is the case 99.9% of the time?? I would be way more worried about a break-in if I had a convertible!! Think about it.

Porsche was first with the all glass roof back in 1996. Looks great on the Mustang. Looked great on theMustangs at the 2007 SEMA show. Would look great on a Bullitt. Extremely cost effective over the heavier convertible. Want wind in your hair? Open the windows.

The Mustang with the glass roof is very nice looking from the outside, as are all Mutangs. Too bad I have to contort myself to get into the driver’s seat. I can’t imagine any adult ever sitting in the rear seats, either.

I’d really love to own a Mustang ragtop, but I can’t get a response from Ford as to when they’ll make Sync available in the Mustang. Anyone have any ideas?

I THINK THE GLASS ROOF IS THE BEST IDEA FORD HAS COME UP WITH. I HAVE OWNED MUSTANGS SINCE 1974 AND PROBABLY HALF OF THEM HAVE BEEN CONVERTIBLES. I WOULD LIKE TO OWN A GLASS ROOF MUSTANG FOR A CHANGE. I HAVE AN 03 CONVERTIBLE RIGHT NOW AND I’M THINKING OF GETTING A NEW ONE AGAIN.

I have a red 06 Mustang GT . Love her , she’s under her cover in the garage to wait out the winter and hit Michigan roads again . Wherever we take her , she gets comments and thumbs up from other drivers. She only goes to a local hand car wash where they baby her like royality . All I need is a sun roof . Has anyone tried installing one ? The new glass roof looks great , but I won’t give up my baby . I’ll be driving her when I’m 90. By the way , as a former road rally driver , she handles beautifully .

Because of the curved roof line the only option is a sunroof that slides out of the roof instead of inside. I had one installed all power, and looks factory for 1,200 Dollars.

I test drove a Mustang with a panoramic roof installed by the dealer last year. It was sort of weird. The only thing I kept thinking was, “how hot is it going to be in this car in the summer?”

Yes the glass was tinted but without some sort of a shade up there I think it would roast anything and anyone inside.

I also wondered in an accident would the thing shatter into safety glass? Insurance companies will love charging you extra for covering THAT!

Hi I have a 07 Mustang GT, Over all I am pleased with it I can’t drive it without people talking about it,However it should have at least 550 HP, I think also the Cobra’s should have at least 700Hp to 900HP,Chevy has the Zo6 Vett with 900 Hp,I mean that will leave most Mustangs in the dust if not all of them even the Cobra’s will get sucked up by that Z06 Vett it is a Moster of a car, so Ford you need to crank up the HP so you can at least run with the Z06 Vett if not past it.so Mustnag’s owners enjoy your Ride,and have a great day.

The roof option is ok, but let’s face it, with the new camaro and chalenger coming out, ford needs the 5.0L cammer with 450 hp and 6-spd trans, and a 5.4L 500 with a 6spd forget the 5-spd and refine it to handle, period…. My 1998 Contour will run circles around the stang when it comes to handling, and will flat out run it, when racing it, i’ve increase hp to 340 hp, and 302 ft.lbs, i also sell for ford, as a saleman for over 15 years with various dealers and ford needs to wake up and build these vehicles, stop playing, GMC and Chrysler will over take them with in a few years,
put the 3.5L 265 hp and a 6spd in the fusion and bring back SVT and utilize all the brand in SVT, not just ford. Imagine a SVt M3 or an lincoln MKZ SVT, a Volvo C or S series SVT and a F-150 SVT Lightning,GMC (garbage made cheap) will build these types of vehicles and not blink and eye, the boomers are still here and most of us have r kids driving and building these types with after market parts, its expensive but we like it. Ford Guys get in gear here comes chevy and dodge after you. Let’s actually do something with the STANG and maybe offer a Mercury Cougar true to form, oh yea where’s the two seat sports car promised years ago remember cobra 230ME, let’s go moving times a wasting.

Rick, I hate to break it to you but, you 1998 Contour won’t run circles around a Stang in handling or anything else if the right person is behind the wheel. A lot of horsepower and rear wheel drive is a whole different league.
