Dustin is so wrong! The Crown Victoria should never be retired! It is Ford's best taxi and police vehicle yet and it's brothers, the Grand Marquis and the Town car, shouldn't be retired as well. Otherwise, if the Crown Vic, the Grand Marquis Town car would be retired, then where's the substitute? A Toyota Sienna? That's nothing compared to a Crown Vic, a Grand Marquis or a Town car! Or do you think limousine services should use vans as their vehicles? That would just be ridiculous!
Also there's no better cab than a Crown Vic, and if the world needs hybrid cars, well, then produce Crown Vics with hybrid engines.
There is also no better police vehicle than the Crown Vic. The Impala? looks too ugly, is slower than the Crown Vic. The Charger? Are you kidding? I have never seen a worse-designed police vehicle than the Charger.
Don't retire America's last full-size cars they are just awesome!
But of course you can retire Dustin :D

Dustyn's comment should be really thought out more. The Escape and the Crown Vic are totally two different vehicles. They were designed for two different jobs. The Crown Vic will never be replaced even if it does get retired. The has not been a more reliable car that has been built to do its job by any manufacturer.

The Crown Victoria and Grand Marquis are awesome cars. They are roomy, dependable, tough and powerful. The V8s provide great torque for manuevering in city traffic. Ford should invest in these platforms and provide a 6 speed transmission and 3V 4.6 engine as a base powerplant and make the 4V 5.4L engine optional. Great cars!

I think the Crown Victoria should be retired. The Ford Escape hybrid as well as a car hybrid should fully replace it. Hybrids are the future of cars and therefore should be the new trend in cars. New York City has a lot of stop and go traffic and fairly slow traffic that is absolutely ideal for hybrid cars. The Crown Victoria has had its run but is getting old and should be retired as well as the Mercury Grand Marquis.
