I sell these things and i must say that you don't know a thing about what you are talking about. My father-in-law owns a Scion Xb. Its paper thin and rickety on the highway. Sure it has lots of are bags but they can't help when the structure of the car is so weak. The flex has all the airbags and guess what it even has real substance! You should do some research before you knock on something you know nothing about. Just so you know the Flex gets 24 MPG and can hold 7 people comefortably! Try that with a Scion.

The Ford looks very interesting in the passenger interior space. I like the styling to. As for the reference to the Scion XB, I think Ford was looking at space utilization that the Scion XB is famous for. The problem with rthe XB is that if you get in any accident at speeds of over ten MPH, the XB is totaled. I'm sure the ford is much stronger in the build quality!

I finally went to my local ford dealership to see the all-new Ford Flex "Limited". At first glance I stated it looks like a "Wagon" and asked the sales person where's the "Wood". He began to explain that this vehicle is more than a that. I'm personally not a big fan of the "Wagon Look", but it's appealing after a while of looking. He began explaining all the features and benefits of this vehicle and sat me down in the front seat. I have to say. "The inside is plush". The leather seats are soft and very comfortable. Made me feel like I was seating in a glove. The refigerator console is incredible. No more stops at a convience store paying 1.49 for a drink for the kids. The room in this vehicle is very versatile for my family. I have 3 girls. They need their space "If you know what I mean". The test drive was impressive as well. Smooth, Quiet, and very Comfortable. This is a definantly a "Road Trip" worthy crossover. It plenty powerful when needed and handles like a sports car. I'm impressed. Over all grade "A". I still have the "Wagon Appearance" growing on me.

i purchased a 09 Flex last week and I LOVE IT!!! As a mother of 2 kids and former owner of the expedition I needed antother vehicle with not only room but now a days better on gas that my suv. Well i have both now. I love the way it drives and the way the interior is set up. Most if not all the people that i've come into contact this week were intrigued and excited about our new ride. Take it for a test drive, you will be amazed how it handles and how much room you have. I LOVE MY FLEX!!!!!!!!!!

The first time i saw thin, it was at a 2007 auto show, and it was an AMAZING beach wagon, much like the woodys of the forties with a white wicker themed interior. What happened? This is now no more than a mommy wagon. At the very least, they should release a Foose edition.

Have been waiting for this car! Finally drove one today and loved it!!! That is except for the headrests. I would have bought the car today if not for these bizarre headrests. I felt like my head was being pushed forward and really couldn't get the seat to be comfortable. Not good for people with neck or back problems! Design a new headrest fast or may have trouble selling this car!

When will Ford figure out that first, not all of us want an SUV. We're looking for size and economy.
We have 2 Windstar vans 2000 and 2002 that offer all the size we want and ecomony these new vehicles don't offer. The 2000 gets 27 on the highway loaded for long trips. With the 26 gallon tank I can drive over 500 miles per day.
Not everyone wants a van either but these new gas hogs have to go. Give me what I want here shortly as both vans are approaching 200,000 miles with no major problems as they've been properly maintained.

We have a Ford Excursion and LOVE it, but the fuel economy is killing me. I recently drove a Ford Explorer, which has great gas mileage but when you put our three kids in the back, that thing is TINY! This new Ford Flex looks like the perfect middle-ground for us - great for in town and short trips, but we'll definately keep the Excursion for towing/long haul road trips. I would venture to guess the Flex is a competitor to the mini vans, and not to the Scion XBs like some have posted. Good job Ford - I can't wait to test drive!

When I saw the FLEX for the first time at the auto show my first reaction was, “Whoa! A MINI Cooper on steroids!” I thought I was so clever to make that comparison but now I see a bunch of you guys beat me to it. I could see a Christmas tree strapped to the top of the FLEX and my 88 year old parents sliding comfortably into the back seat. “Just what I need.” As I got closer to the display my thumping heart sunk to my stomach, “Just another decadent tank in retro clothes.” Too bad. I’ve always wondered how many more new Thunderbirds would be on the street if FORD had made them as affordable to own and operate as BMW has done with the MINI Cooper. I live in a small town and for every Thunderbird (one) there are 20 MINI’s including mine and my next door neighbor’s. I don’t expect to see more than one FLEX either, if any at all. Happy motoring.

There sure are a lot of uninformed posts about this vehicle. If the fuel economy comes in at mid 20s on the highway and high teens in the city, it will have WAY better fuel economy than ANY Honda of Toyota capable of carrying 7 passengers. To compare this vehicle to a Prius or Scion should not be allowed to even post here. This vehicle is a perfect option for families sick of gas guzzling sport utilites and ugly minivans being the only option for the whole family to ride in one car. In fact, all you Toyota lovers out there, go look at the fuel economy of the Sequioa and then feel free to post your humble apology for your ignorant statements.

Hmmm I seem to remember that gas is $4 a gallon a climbing. So 18 gallon tank x $4 = $72 to fill it up. Poor gas milege means that even just in short commutes and regular usage...you probably have to fill it once a week.

So on top of a luxury price tag for a rehash of another companies design...it'll cost me about $300 a month to fuel? No thanks.

What if gas prices increase further? You won't be able to give this thing away on a used car lot.

Beat Toyota...or lose money. Time to choose Ford.

I like the look, retro, but new and clean. The real test will be seeing it in person at a local Ford dealer. As for the gas mileage, that's the price you ahve to pay for the capability to haul a middle-size family plus stuff, so I expect mileage in the upper teens around town, mid-20's on the highway. The one thing that will make me keep my current Chevy Astro van or buy a Flex is whether I can put a 4-ft wide piece of plywood in the back. If I can, I'll buy it, otherwise no. That simple. One other tip for the marketing dperatment: I would cut the advertising that the Sync system is designed by or associated with Microsoft--I don't want anything in my car that's as "reliable" as my PC!

I had the chance to ride in one as part of a focus group yesterday; got to ask a lot of questions. I'm also a GM/Toyota fan, but this car makes me think again about looking at Ford with an open mind. The Ford guy driving the prototype told us the highway mileage should be @24 mpg, city in the 17-19 mpg range, or about 21 mpg under normal mixed usage. Not bad at all, for such a big car!

Not being a Ford fan, I had no idea what I was going to see when they told us we were studying the Flex. I was totally surprised to find a third seat back there! I don't know that the video does the classy, retro look justice. Yeah, it's similar to an XBox or MiniCoop on steroids, a lowered stretch FJ Cruiser, but it is cool all on its own.

At the risk of over-inflating anyone's expectations, I was really, truly, pleasantly surprised at the thoroughness of the design thoughts throughout this Flex. I really liked it, and I generally gt pleasure from hating Fords!

I like the retro look of the vehicle. Harkens back to more carefree days. I'm not a Ford person, a GM enthusiast. However, its time to replace my aging Tahoe and I've added this to my list of candidates which also includes the GMC Acadia and the '09 Honda Pilot, which also made the move a more squared off and truck like appearance. The more squared off and masculine looks of the Flex and the new Pilot are a better match, style-wise than the more rounded and feminine looks of the Acadia for a 38 year old male like myself.

Like others in this forum, mileage will be of great concern and it will factor very largely in how I will finally assess the Flex as a replacement for my current vehicle. The Acadia and Pilot have decent fuel economy that is nearly twice what I'm getting with my current V-8 powered Tahoe (5.8 ltr engine, about 9 mpg in the city). With the V-6 engine and six speed automatic transmission I would guess that the Flex would get about 16 - 18 mpg EPA estimates or 13 - 15 mpg city (realworld).

The interior of the vehicle is nice with plenty of apparent leg and hip room which is important to someone is both big and tall. Some of the standard features I could care less about, like the Sync by Microsoft or the skylite roof. It will appeal to others, but it's just not my bag. Other things, like cargo carrying, towing, spaciousness and not looking like a soccor mom's car are important to me.

Let's hope it gets decent gas mileage, I would hate to see a cool looking vehicle like this stuck on the dealer lot because it can't go for long without a fillup. Even if it is a Ford.
