Mazda Unveils Its Hakaze Concept Car in Geneva

Hakaze is the third concept vehicle expressing Mazda’s ‘Nagare’ design language. Mazda Motor Corporation unveiled the new Hakaze design concept at the 77th annual Geneva International Motor Show, being held through Sunday, March 18, 2007.

The Mazda Hakaze is a four-seat coupe-style compact crossover SUV designed at Mazda’s European Design Centre and aimed at people in their thirties and forties who lead active, adventurous lifestyles.

Hakaze is the third design concept of the series created around the “Nagare” design language, joining the Mazda Nagare, and Mazda Ryuga, which were revealed earlier this motor show season. Even when standing still, Hakaze seems to be effortlessly cutting through the air.

Outside, the side body panels are textured to give the impression of sand dunes rippled by the wind and the body shape creates a muscular and taut look. The rear part of its roof is removable which gives it a feel similar to a roadster. The interior seat layout is unique, as the rear seats slide forward with their lower cushions under the front seats to produce a spacious luggage compartment.

Wow. what was Ford thinking with this one? Not only is it just excruciatingly ugly, it looks compeletly impractical.

Please, Ford, scrap this idea and put the Interceptor into production.
Harvey says (April 14, 2008 at 12:25 pm):
It looks like it may have some worthwhile attributes but in general the exterior appearance is displeasing to say the least.......may want to go back to the sketch pad on this one.
MICHAEL T. LAFON says (January 3, 2008 at 5:37 pm):
GREAT IDEAS!!

Ugly personified, and impractical to boot!
Can corporations leverage blogs? at Metafluence says (June 27, 2007 at 11:59 am):
[...] I too have been noticing open, honest participation in social media by large corporations. One of the biggest surprises I’ve had recently was seeing Ford approving negative comments on their Autoshow’s blog. Some of these comments are shockingly harsh given the typical reaction of a Fortune 500 company to hide critical reviews. This kind of radical transparency certainly made me trust the information on the Ford blog more. [...]

The Joker, from Batman, would love it. For everyone else,a joke

I don't think that the car is particularly revolutionary, but it is good looking in my opinion. The scissor doors are a nice touch.
utistudent says (April 17, 2007 at 3:25 pm):
this is by far the worst idea ive ever seen! the designer of this car should get fired on the spot for the worst idea that mazda has ever came up with. i would never buy this car an i know for a fact that nobody else would buy it either.heres the list of whats wrong with the car
1 ugly grille
2 nasty interior
3dash needs to be removed
4 seats look very uncomfortable
5 are there headlights?!?
6 when this "thing" gets into a wreck there will be no survivors, the layout is completely unrealistic.
over all a useless crossover!

probably the ugliest vehicle i have seen yet, but lets turn mazda into the lamborghini i thought ford tried to but ferrari. the only thing on this thing i like is the fact that it reminds me of the dodge neon because it smiles back at me. one word UGLY.
Cornelius says (April 9, 2007 at 10:00 pm):
Interesting, sort of aquatic and organic, design. However, that has to be the ugliest grill on a car that I have ever seen. Overall I'm just getting tired of crossovers in general, do we really need another?
