I just purchased a new 08 Mercury Mariner after trading in a 06 Lincoln Zephyr. This is my first SUV, and wanted something that was what I consider mid-sized. Right now it just what the doctor ordered. Not being as BIG as some this SUV is perfect. Gas currently is running at 15 1/2 mpg. and the elect. power steering is a pleasure to drive. I got everything on it buit the Navig. I like sitting higher than the rest of the cars and find enough power in the V-6 , that I’m happy. I only have 400 miles on it but if it performs as it has I’ll be a happy camper.

As per my previous comment to my 08 Mariner ” It’s the Bomb ” Now at 1050 miles I am still happy and glad that I decided to lease it. Gas is running about 16 city, and have no complaints and still enjoy driving it . I replaced the air in the tires w/ nitrogen hoping to get a better ride and better gas mileage and handling. ( We will see ). Mariner still runs like a top and is easer to park and handle than my previous Zephyr ” another great car “. I’m 59 and it makes me feel good driving it , I would recommend it to anyone looking for a SUV .M.L.Johnson / Ft. Lauderdale, Fl.

If one has driven SUV’s and 4wd for 40 years, it is not so nice to have to step into a small car if you want to drive a cabrio. And I think there is a great market for them. Certainly if hybrid or electric non-cross country.

Handsome as it stands, and still well identified as a modern Mercury with the brand’s signature style; but Ford – PLEASE stop following Target and the Style Network by labeling anything that’s simple, clean and modern as Zen. Budhism is a belief, not a fashion statement, and labeling a compact SUV as the Zen Mariner is no less offensive and absurd as calling the vehicle Wahabi or Shia.

 this thing sure looks like every other suv on the road today. i dont know about everyone else it sure looks like a tahoe with a different emblem.

I think this vehicle appeals to a younger generation. As someone in their mid 20s this car is extremely appealing to me. Sleek lines, attractive, compelling, many standard safety features, and an aux input jack! My first car was a ‘99 Ford Explorer and I can’t wait to be able to drive a CUV or compact SUV. This one definitely tops my list.

I know what my next vehicle is going to be! As a teenager, i think i know whats cool. and the new Mariner is VERY cool.

Hopefully Ford’s IT & Marketing Dept. isn’t setting a trend here it seems that Ford plans to produce this. It’s a bit too girly for me Merc has been trying to attract the ladies here hopefully it works. As for me the Escape works a lot better great job!

I think that there should be a better hybrid engine that will make it get more miles to the gallon then a regular hybrid engine. Cool 20 in. wheels. And try to make the price go down.

I am a big Mercury fan. My parents own an old 1995 Mercury Villager, but its a great car. I like the new Mariner, but the problem is while the Mercury exteriors are great, the interiors are too much like their Ford counterparts. Ford needs to make Mercury different than Ford itself rather than just “badge-engineering”. Once we find a true difference in a Mercury than a Ford is when Mercury sales will go up.

Looks okay, not a big change. Could have used some addional power, like the 3.5ltr V-6. Apparantly “Bold Moves” means subtle adjustments to interior and exterior styling and no change in performance. Well, I guess Ford wants to keep continuing down the same profitable path it has been going down the past few years.

Ford is just spoofing us - right? Make some minor changes that should have been made in 2003 and call it new. Who knows, it might work for some.

The mariner has always looked great! Good vehicle. Just be sure they don’t slip in the new V6 with vintage mechanical bucket technology. They will simply not have the longevity of the OHC roller follower design. At about 120k miles you’ll need to have it re-fitted for new mechanical buckets or your performance, full economy and emmissions will all suffer….this is how cars were 50 years ago!!! Get with it Ford!

Are the pictures above the new Mariner? I might not be getting some pictures because the 2 pictures I see look almost exactly like the present Mariner. I don’t really see a difference at all. But with the new Ford Escape coming and looking brand new, I’m sure that Mercury will do something big with the Mariner, too. My computer must just not be showing me some pictures here.
